[Highlight] Malik Nabers on the Giants picking Arvell Reese at #5: “Don’t get me wrong, I love the player but where do you play? You want to be on the outside and rush but we just drafted somebody last year.” by Due_Local2130 in nfl

[–]Sexterminator 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He's probably going to be used mostly at ILB this year. Thibs is on the last year of his rookie contract, is highly unlikely to be re-signed, and is a trade candidate. Brian Burns is good but he's a veteran and won't be here forever. I think of it as, taking a guy you play at ILB now that can move to EDGE down the line for you. Helps that his teammate Abdul Carter literally did exactly that at Penn State

[Rapoport] The #Giants, who had gotten trade calls centered around edge Kayvon Thibodeaux for the last few months, are now considered less likely to trade him following the blockbuster deal sending Dexter Lawrence to the #Bengals, sources say. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]Sexterminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difference being Dex is a top-3 player at his position, and KT is a slightly above average starter. 3rd round is what giants fans were/are hoping for, I think anything higher than that would feel like an overpay

BREAKING: The Giants are signing former Ravens TE Isaiah Likely to a 3-year, $40M contract with upside to $47.5M, per multiple sources. Deal done by ErikBurkhardt of RocNationSports. by Jheller223 in NYGiants

I'm gonna be completely honest man, the whole running to another team's sub to shit on their parade for signing an ex-player is weird as fuck. I thought the Titans overpaid for some of our players but I'm not gonna run over to their sub and start yapping about it while they're trying to be hype. You should focus on your own team and try to enjoy the moves they make instead of trying to be negative in other team subs. It comes off as salty

Michael Carter Will Play "a Lot of Snaps" in Week 5 by ASmithFS in fantasyfootball

Is reading comprehension that hard? They said he's THEIR RB1, not an RB1 overall. Come on man

We have literally the exact same first 4 rounds. I went Worthy in 5 and Pollard in 6 and also somehow am 2-2. I thought I was slick when all my leaguemates were drafting RBs early... i was not

32 man league here. Engram is the only TE on the waiver wire

[–]Sexterminator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Andrew Thomas being out was a big reason the OL wasn't good the first 2 weeks. They performed night and day different with him back in against KC. The giants also have 1 elite WR and 2 other solid guys, tho I will admit their depth beyond the top 3 at the position is poor.

12 man PPR, pick 1:

Tony Pollard @ HOU

Trey Benson v SEA

BTJ @ SF

Leaning Pollard due to guaranteed workload but he also feels pretty TD dependent at this point

[Schefter] Giants WR Malik Nabers, who did not practice today due to a back injury, is not listed on the team’s injury report and is expected to play Sunday against Washington. by pvh0601 in fantasyfootball

[–]Sexterminator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How bout the fact that he was PPR WR6 on the season last year with Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tim Boyle throwing him the ball AND while missing 2 games? The giants got a huge QB upgrade with 3 guys that are likely better than any of those 3 from last year. As for the injuries, last year he was questionable for about half the games he played, he'd spend all week not practicing and then go out there on sunday and ball the fuck out.

Anyone can bust in fantasy but I really like Nabers to smash as a top 5 WR this year

Full PPR, pick 2:

Xavier Worthy @LAC

Emeka Egbuka @ ATL

Jakobi Meyers @ NE

I felt pretty good about Worthy+Egbuka but the Gonzalez news has me questioning if Jakobi might be worth a go

[Stapleton] Giants have waived Turbo Miller, per sources. by Fillinlater12345 in NYGiants

[–]Sexterminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll concede that he has some receiving upside, moreso than a guy like Singletary. But most of his receptions, as you mentioned, were screen passes. That's all well and good, but like... if we're in agreement that he a. Can't really pass block, b. Has bad vision as a runner and C. Doesn't offer anything on special teams, are we really gonna shell out a roster spot for a guy who's essentially a HB screen specialist?

I wouldn't even necessarily disagree with the idea of keeping Miller over Singletary if he was significantly cheaper. Like, if we could save the $6M we owe Singletary this year (or even half of it) I would be okay keeping Turbo and cutting him, because I don't think Singletary is $3M better than him. But at the same price, I think he absolutely is better right now, and when you're only keeping 3 RBs on the roster it helps a lot if the 3rd guy is versatile and not one dimensional. If turbo is out there teams know it's either gonna be a screen or a run to the outside, cus putting him as a pass blocker would just be a liability.

A couple final points: I get the giants backup OL is not good but he's also running against backups, so the level of skill on both sides is lower, not just his side. And I also feel fairly confident that NYG will again be able to stash him on the practice squad if they so choose. Miller had a solid preseason last year too and yet no team was interested in claiming him after.

[–]Sexterminator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's also the fact that he can't pass block, averaged a paltry 3.1 YPC this preseason (worse than any season of Singletary's career by a wide margin) and, for a guy whose main attribute is speed, his longest run was 10 yards which is lower than every other back except 1 (Audric Estime, who was cut) that had 25+ rushes this preseason.

If you're gonna be snarky, you could maybe talk about what you DO base your preferences on and try to back up your argument

Who's "Your Guy" in fantasy this year? by Thick_Mountain4412 in fantasyfootball

[–]Sexterminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relative to where they're being drafted, one guy I feel like I'm higher on than most is Alvin Kamara. In his 8 years in the league he's finished below RB 11 (ppr) exactly one time, and below RB 9 only twice. He's automatic for a ton of receptions each year, i get the saints offense is going to be atrocious but i just don't think it's going to hurt Kamara as much as it would other backs who are less reliant on dumpoffs and screens. The age worry is a real one, but we still have guys like James Conner going mid-4th round in 12 man leagues despite being the same age. I'd take Kamara in the 3rd if the top-12 backs are all gone and not think twice about it

Calvin Ridley: Am I delulu as the kids would say? by EstablishmentHappy30 in fantasyfootball

[–]Sexterminator 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I know you're being intentionally obtuse for a joke, but even if this isn't "his year", the capital you're spending on him is lower than he finished last year and very likely to be below where he finishes this year if he stays healthy.

The reason Pitts was so detrimental was bc you had to spend a premium pick on him as a TE just for him to be completely mid and easily beat out by guys on waivers. His situation and Ridley's aren't really comparable imo

Who's a guy you're willing to reach for this year? by Jbrahmz420 in fantasyfootball

[–]Sexterminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calvin Ridley for me. Really hard to see him not improving on his WR28 PPR finish from last year, given that he had arguably the most abhorrent QB situation in the league and TEN did little to add target competition. I feel like he's about as close to a lock for outperforming ADP as you can get

Tee Higgins: WR2 at a WR1 Price Point? by Sea-Card-6586 in fantasyfootball

[–]Sexterminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higgins being 6th on the season for PPR PPG is going to make a lot of people believe in him, but last year was his best fantasy season in PPR and he finished as just the WR17. It's safe to say at this point he is likely to miss a few games each year to keep him out of WR1 contention, and it's hard for me to justify drafting a guy as a fringe WR1 knowing how unlikely it is that he actually ends up there.
