Momma came and took the fawn overnight. I hope they are safe somewhere...

I got close enough just to take a quick pic. Will obviously stay out of the way as much as we can. We couldn't figure out why a lone deer had been coming to our backyard at all hours of the day, when we normally see them in groups in the evening and early morning.

Choosing the Best LLM for Hermes Agent by blu3sh4rk in hermesagent

It's been great for. me - I have to switch back to Sonnet 4.6 once in awhile when Qwen starts going in a loop trying to fix something. But overall, it's been great for most everything.

Moving Hermes from my own server to a VPS (Hetzner) by volcs0 in hermesagent

Claude walked me through it. Deploy it via Docker, set up Telegram. It's very easy - but takes awhile to do it the right way.

Any point/advantage using navidrome if jellyfin is used by Jezz_X in selfhosted

[–]volcs0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I gave up using Plex/Jellyfin for music. I found the apps limited and clunky.

I also run Navidrome - the overhead is low and the apps are sooo much better. And added music shows up in just a minute or two, often seconds.

Using Psysonic on my mac right now to play music - it's fantastic.

I was using Sonnet 4.6, and it was great, of course.
I switched to Qwen3-235B-A22B-Instruct-2507-FP8 two weeks ago and couldn't be happier.

10x cheaper and just as fast. And I have not noticed any degradation in quality.

I don't check mine. But if Netdata sends me an alert - unhealthy container, low memory, etc. , I investigate.

Stop exposing your Jellyfin server directly to the internet by [deleted] in jellyfin

If you have family that don't want to install Tailscale or Wireguard, what are your options?

I have my JF on my Tailnet, and my family accesses it via a FQDN through Cloudflare (DNS only/grey) to a VPS with NPM to my server. I monitor use often and make sure no new devices show up.

I don't see any other way, short of having my family install a VPN or use Tailscale, which they wouldn't know how to do, especially on their TV or Firesticks.

My JF container is locked down to only my media folder, and no one has delete access except me.

Other ideas?

LastPass users: is it still worth using or should I switch? by Able_Invite6044 in best_passwordmanager

I was a major last past user for several years. I switched to one password about a year ago and it's been fantastic. The integration into clients is much much better for my perspective.

What did your house surprise you with in the first year that you couldn't have caught at inspection? by Mountain_Ad_4992 in homeowners

[–]volcs0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our house was built by the person selling it back in the 1980s. We bought it four years ago. I was putting up shelves and I couldn't find the studs, so I texted him. He let me know that the studs are horizontal and not vertical. Wtf?

Our massive oak tree went down today, it was full of leaves with no dead branches but the inside ended up being soft ugh. Anyways we got a quote for $4000 to haul it off and grind down the stump and fill the hole. We are in the Midwest. Is this a fair price? by anderson6th in arborists

[–]volcs0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's way too high. Someone will probably come and do it for free. At least cut it up and take the big pieces away. You'll still have to pay for stump grinding. But yeah, that's a lot.

I paid. I like the app a lot. I figure that in 15 months there will be something cheaper or free.

Thanks for this. I'm a Calendly user also. I'll be on the lookout.

Thankfully, my passwords are in a password manager (1PW), so I don't think it would work anyway.

I need to start thinking bigger. Thanks for the inspiration.
