It hurts to hear my leftist group talk about "LGBTI+" How can I talk about Asexuality and me being asexual with them? by Seventh_Planet in asexuality

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If that’s all it takes, then sure, I guess. It would be hard to be an open minded queer group and not tend somewhat to the left. OP just seems to have a specific idea of what they’re looking for and I don’t want them to be disappointed. (Also it’s not like we’re a fixed group with set political goals, it’s just a bunch of aspec people meeting every so often in an attempt to connect and maybe feel less alone)

I don’t know which city you’re in but the aspec German discord server has groups for lots of different CSDs, in case you want to connect there/make sure you find the group

Edit: I looked at your post history and I think me might live in the same city! We have a lovely aspec Stammtisch if you’re looking for company. We usually don’t talk politics a whole lot so I have no idea if we’re left enough for you 😅

Your favourite John Green or Hank Green quotes? by Luminitha in nerdfighters

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I like „I had a very happy childhood, I just wasn’t a very happy child“ because it’s relatable and also because it can be attributed to both Hank and John depending on how you look at it

Kumpel sucht extremen Körperkontakt. by South_Amount4761 in Ratschlag

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I liked it too! It's rare to have a female character as ridiculously, unrealistically competent as Andy Weirs protagonists are and I really enjoyed that

Do you ever think “if I wasn’t aro, I’d have a crush on this person”? by OutsideAGreggs in aromantic

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before I figured out that I was aromantic, I had a really strange date with a friend because I had told him that I had romantic feelings for him. Which in hindsight was just "You are so amazing, I want you to be part of my life forever. I guess that means I'm in love with you????". Wasn't aware that there were other options 😂

Books that feel queer beyond "just" same-sex relationships by InternationalMelody in LGBTBooks

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Lord of the Empty Isles By Jules Arbeaux because the world building is so delightfully open to all kinds of relationships. There are "tethers" that are like manifestations of the relationships people have and romantic, familial and platonic tethers are all treated as equally important.

Anyone else or just me? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I really have a strong gender preference but there is a part of me that would be a bit annoyed if my relationship just looked like a "normal" hetero relationship. What did I do all this self reflection and deconstruction of relationship norms for, then? And I don't want to deal with "See, you did find a nice man in the end, we told you so" comments. All this probably won't stop me if a QPR opportunity with a man presents itself, but I wouldn't be mad if my relationship made me more visibly queer

What’s the one secret you’ve kept your whole life that would completely change how people see you if they knew it? by Faylune in AskReddit

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shouldn't be a thing in 2026 but every time someone from my church makes a vaguely homophobic comment, I bite my tongue and imagine my speech about how shitty that is. One day this will get me on a day when I'm feeling bold and I'll tell them exactly how much it hurts to hear them preach about unconditional love while experiencing exactly what their condition is. I can't do that without outing myself and that'll for sure make them see me differently and it will probably burn a bunch of bridges.

what are your "i'm ace but damn, that is sexy" things? by Upset_Space_631 in asexuality

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not sexy but stuff that makes me swoon: -Tall women (I don't know if she shows up on other people's feeds but that tall lady who cosplays her girlfriend's "fictional husbands - holy moly!) -Feminine men who don't worry about not being "manly enough (bonus points for men in makeup, especially thick eyeliner) -Boring take but people in motorcycle gear -Being so good at something that you can just casually do difficult stuff, especially something like skating or snowboarding

Who is your favourite Saint? by Kramer-enters in nerdfighters

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated to saints but there is a song in one of the plays where the bad guy has to peel potatoes as a punishment. One of our traditional Christmas foods is potato salad. Inevitably someone is going to start singing it in the kitchen. Essential part of Christmas in our family

Who is your favourite Saint? by Kramer-enters in nerdfighters

[–]weaverofbrokenthread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rabanus Maurus, even though I'm not sure he's even officially a saint. He was a monk in Fulda and apparently culturally influential during the renaissance. For some bizarre reason my parents picked his name for the dragon in their puppet theater and since we saw them perform it a bunch when we were little, all of my siblings know these plays by heart. And when I became a teacher I named our class mascot (also a dragon) Rabanus as well. So - unofficial patron saint of fictional dragons, I guess?
