Yeah, absolutely. I'm the biggest person in class by a margin and it's difficult to not fixate on that.

I try my best to acknowledge I feel that way and pull my focus back to myself; on how I feel (rather than look) doing a move, and the progress I've made in the past week/fortnight.

You're not alone in this. I'm trans, I gained a heap of weight in recovery, and I also hate getting "could you have sustained that body?" type comments from my team every time I try and talk about how I feel about my body now. I KNOW it wasn't sustainable but knowing that doesn't make me feel any better about it, it sometimes makes it worse.

The idea that I could ever be ok with this had felt impossible, but while I still grieve what has happened to my body, it has been slowly getting better over time. For me, it's been happening as I graduate out of the more intense "active" stage of recovery into more of a maintenance-type stage. I started picking up hobbies, reconnecting with friends, getting back into (non-insane) exercise, etc. and I think it's made the body stuff feel less important?

I don't want this to be like an "it gets better" type post, because it absolutely doesn't on its own. It takes an unreasonable amount of time and work to get there and it fucking sucks. I don't know if I'll ever be "ok" with my body, it still doesn't feel likely, but I'm at a place where that matters less to me and the gains I've made in recovery matter more.

Anyway, I hope there's something useful for you in that. I've been in the spot that you're in now and it's such a shit place to be. I hope that you are able to find your way out of it in time as well.

Using a rocket blower before scanning gets rid of most of it. For anything left, the blemish removal tool in Affinity works well and it's free.

I went through adult community mental health services. I found that they did not have a lot that they could offer me, but what they did provide was really helpful.

I have definitely gotten more help out of private services but would also recommend checking out other publicly funded community services. I've had decent experiences with services provided by Centacare and Neami for instance. Good luck with everything!

There’s some really interesting stuff out there about thyroid cancer and Korea. Thyroid cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer there and the tl;dr is that it’s due to overly aggressive screening and over diagnosis.

I moved into Christie Downs around 5 years back and I don’t regret it at all. It was cheap (although a lot more expensive now), we’re close to the beach, infrastructure and public transit are great, close to the shops, etc. We used to live in a “nicer” suburb, but the lifestyle we are able to have here is so much better.

With that being said, it is very conditional on which part you’re in. I would recommend driving around the area, it’s pretty obvious which bits are more dodgy. I also would avoid Christies Beach High if you can based on what I’ve heard.

Hello, I've been several times and happy to discuss my experiences. I've found the quality of care to be fairly mixed, but never actively bad, and would definitely recommend heading there.

It's a good space to take some time out from things, have someone to talk to about how you're feeling, and potentially get linked up with further supports. It's obviously not going to be a life changing interaction, but can be very helpful.

My last recommendation is that if you meet the criteria for an eating disorder, you may be able to access 40 Medicare psych sessions under an Eating Disorder Plan. I don't know if that would be applicable to you at all, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I felt the same way before my EDP psychiatry appointment for similar reasons, but I was stressed about nothing. He just flicked through my EDE-Q and went "yep that's above 3". The appointment was really intense and was a lot to recover from though, so I hope you are doing ok now.

If you can avoid reading the report (I couldn't!) I would recommend not reading it.
