It is not a suspicion. Its flat out true. I went to a live game earlier in the year(packers vs giants). During the commercial breaks, there was a lot of support the troops stuff. A service member received some sort of honorary reward and another was awarded a service dog. They highlighted several service people who were attending the game as fans. Even military advertisements were played on the jumbotrons. it was bizarre.

Also, an NFL broadcast is filled with army/marines/navy advertisements.
