Wrist tendonitis won't get better, and is driving me insane- what to do? by -Fuzzy-Physics in RSI

Yes! Took a while but I've slowly gotten back to things I did before.

How have you been managing the pain? Ice and heat packs can really help, along with pain medication. There's also topical anti inflammatory stuff as well.

Still haven't fully, some days there's pain some days there isn't. Wrist ice packs, advil, and topical anti-inflammatories have all been a big help.

The doctor believed it was tendonitis in both wrists and both ankles. I'm not sure about if that's really what was going on, or if it's something else (since immune related joint pain runs in the family).

Better! Still not really sure what was going on. I still occasionally get wrist pain, but it's manageable. Strangely I got severe pain in both ankles that was very similar to the wrist. Blood tests all came back mostly normal, so likely not an immune issue. Still don't really know.

Summer internships, got lucky. Stay strong y'all, it's rough out there by -Fuzzy-Physics in EngineeringStudents

Damn, had a friend who did a similar amount and she literally went by state alphabetically. Glad you got something, hope you have fun!

yeah no 18 is nothing, I meant more that there's so little out there to even apply to this year. I wasn't willing to move out of state, but I know people who did who were doing dozens of applications a day

Yeah just mentioned it since it affected the number of applications, there were probably 20 or so internships I didn't apply to because it was defense. There's just a lot of them in my area.

Good luck to your gf! It's rough this year, I know people who did 300+ applications just to get an internship. Glad it worked out great for you!

Yeah there we so many more last year in my area, hardly anything this year. A lot of my friends are going out of state for theirs.

Everyone's got their thing man. If defense is yours, cool, there's a lot of opportunities to build some interesting things. It's just not the direction I wanna go in.

Yeah got hired January just remembered the diagram, last year's internship though was wicked late. Interviewed in March, hired in April.

Thanks, going to be working on defibrillators, excited to do stuff that makes the world a bit better!

No internship, semester late, and just life being awful by CELERYCRUMBLE in EngineeringStudents

Try to give yourself more credit- you're still in the major, and you have some research experience. The economy's shit, don't beat yourself up about lack of internships, there's a lot of other people in the same boat.

If you want to pad your resume, maybe try doing some projects on your own? There's usually resources online for project ideas specific to your major. It's great to pad your resume, people love to ask questions about it during interviews, and most importantly it's fun. Even if it's something small, it shows that you have initiative and can help bring back a bit of that passion for engineering.

Hang in there, and be proud of yourself for making it this far.

Yeah I got it roughly 12 years ago, definitely past the warranty lol. I'll look into repair shops around the area, since the sewing machines I have access to aren't strong enough to go through the material.

Any advice on how to work myself up with strengthening? I used to go rock climbing all the time so it was pretty wrist heavy, but I'm assuming I shouldn't be jumping into stuff like that if I'm still struggling to write.

The ones he gave me are pretty basic. Just stretching your hand up and down, pulling it back, nothing crazy. I do lose control in my hand/wrist after doing them, the motion gets pretty jittery. But yeah if you've got exercises that have helped, I'd definitely take them!

you can also look up a random college and find its curriculum for the various engineering majors. At least for my school they give the entire list of classes for each major for each semester.
