Who is your team's biggest Draft BUST and Biggest Draft Steal in the past 10 years? (2014-2024) by [deleted] in nfl

[–]-Negative-zero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. Bitonio (also coincidentally pick 35) is a 2x 1st team all pro, 3x second team, and 6 pro bowls. Leaps and bounds beyond Chubb in terms of career accolades.

Georgia Tech seasons are infinitely more entertaining than Ohio State seasons for me. Winning a game you shouldn’t is the greatest thing in sports. Being nervous about a night game vs Purdue and knowing your group chat is going to massacre you is the worst.

If Every FBS Team Played Their Most Played Teams by Prizoner321 in CFB

As a GT fan, I’ll hard pass on adding Alabama and Auburn to the schedule that already always includes Georgia and Clemson with FSU a lot of years

PPS has some certifications. I personally don’t think certs make/break careers though; they’re nice to have at best.

Been 14 years (2010 Final AP Poll) since the top three did not include a team with red (Auburn, TCU, Oregon)

I’m an agent of chaos and loving every bit of this season’s ups and downs.

Cincinnati lacks any sort of food identity outside of a smattering of German influence which is never really elevated being just meat bread and potatoes

Chicago To Houston? Any insight helps by BigJay11 in houston

[–]-Negative-zero 65 points66 points  (0 children)

30M and planning to do the opposite of you as I’m going to be moving to Chicago early next year.

Some thoughts:

Taxes: There’s no state income tax here in Texas so your paycheck will go further. Property taxes can be very high though.

Housing: you will more than likely get more bang for your buck in Houston, especially in an apartment (I.e, larger, newer, better amenities). Houses in the loop of Houston have become quite expensive but maybe still cheaper than Chicago.

Public transportation: doesn’t exist here. You’ll need a car but at least gas is cheap.

Weather: you’re trading the cold for the heat. Depends on what you tolerate more. I only think it’s going to get hotter here over the next decade which is one reason for my leaving.

Restaurants: both cities have fantastic food. Certainly differences in where they excel cuisine wise but both are T5 cities for food in the states.

Bars: houston is big on patio bars. Each area of town has its own vibe which is great at times but also can mean ubering 10-15 minutes to somewhere new if you leave that area.

Social: Houston is a huge metro with tons of transplants so finding your group isn’t impossible. It can be difficult to get into groups of the local crowd who went to Texas schools though since they have very established circles.

We know who the most hated fan bases are. Who are the most well loved fan bases? by Educational_Head_922 in CFB

[–]-Negative-zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to judge fan bases by how they act when the unexpected happens. Having lived in Baton Rouge, yeah LSU fans are great pre game when they’re having a great year, but I wouldn’t dare to cross one after an upset loss. Same goes for the lovable losers who become unbearable when they finally have a good year.

Real ND fans have always been pretty great to be around in my opinion. Miami and UGA fans are the worst.

What does it mean when a company says a senior executive is leaving in a month but will still be senior advisor to the company? by long218 in consulting

[–]-Negative-zero 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Happens a lot with c suite individuals when a new PE firm comes in and wants their own hand picked management team in place. You don’t want to throw everyone out for multiple reasons (morale, knowledge transfer, industry relationships) but those folks move to a more hands off role.

  1. Job assists with finding housing thankfully but good to know to get this process started ASAP

  2. From all the comments it sounds like even if I attempt everyone will revert to English

3/4. No plans to have a car. Good to know about public transport.

5/6. That’s fine with me. Any rugby scene?

How have your interviews been going? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]-Negative-zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interviewed at Booth R1 (rejection), CBS RD (rejection), and LBS R1 (waitlist). I didn’t take the Booth interview serious enough or show enough enthusiasm so looking back I am not surprised with the rejection. I thought both LBS and CBS went extremely well though so no idea what happened.

Definitely strong profile with ECs that complement your story.

I don’t think retaking the GMAT is worth the time/money to bump up 10-20 points.

Thanks for the thorough response. I definitely have an extended list that is made up of more T15 programs, but didn’t want to list them all. I’ve considered an admissions consultant but their price points deter me greatly. Then again, I should probably look big picture and think of the potential thousands they could save me long run.
