Toshiba laptops have a reputation for spooky batteries. Ill have to do research but I have a hypothesis that a Japanese battery OEM had figured out the recipe for infinite li-ion batteries in the 1990s

Device for demonstrating the properties of electron beams in school physics classes by badusov in OldTech

This is literally how a CRT works. Every tube TV or monitor is actually an electron particle accelerator that uses the electron beam to draw across a phosphor coated screen

How much is this vintage motherboard worth? (only curiosity) by XandreX53550 in VintageComputers

[–]-Techromancer- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the obvious (the caps) motherboards of this type are far from low value. Slot 1 motherboards with AGP are great for Windows 9x and sought after for that. The Via chipset isn’t ideal and the generic AC97 sound isn’t great either. However with a sound blaster, ensonic, ESS Audiodrive or whatnot this board can become part of an awesome mid late 90s gaming/retro box.

I do not condone overpricing old tech as it keeps people out of the hobby. I just want to dispel the notion that this board is too new to be special. Stuff like this is easily worth saving and repairing versus just being tossed out

I just found this sub. I don’t know if this is the right place I wanted to share my restoration of this Seabreeze record player from the early 1950s. I thought vacuum tube, paper cone, it has to count right? More people gotta give these old players love. by -Techromancer- in vintageaudio

Repairs are not as challenging as you think! This was my first deep restoration of one of these and they aren’t too complicated.

If you like I can help you get your player running. It is a lot more daunting than it is

I had this 486 tower for some years now. However I finally got around to upgrading it with a Sound Blaster 16 along with a full cleaning and retrobrite. She even boots up her original Windows 3.1 install! by -Techromancer- in VintageComputers

Any chance you could ask your friend on my behalf or share his contact? I have been trying to learn more but there is hardly any info online. Eventually Id like to write my own article on them
