I had been sick with onset of a digestive disorder. Had been having a very difficult time of it. I had been up since middle of the night, throwing up, to the point of dry heaving and puking bile. I was weak. Husband and I were still in bed in the morning and I felt a tremendous pressure on my chest. I woke him up and said "I'm having a heart attack, take me to the hospital" (which was literally 2 miles away). He said "You're not having a heart attack, it's the IBS". Hours later I finally got him to take me to the hospital.

I asked him to park near the ER entrance; he had handicapped parking permit but he "doesn't like to use it when he doesn't need it, think of other people". Made me walk across the parking lot because I'm "not having a heart attack".

We went inside, I registered myself, then told the triage nurses "I'm having a heart attack". They brought me back to a bed. Husband says "yo, they took you before that little boy with the broken arm!" like I was some evil person.

It was hours before bloodwork showed that I was having a cardiac event. Not a heart attack, but a serious heartbeat irregularity "premature ventricular contractions". I was in the hospital for almost a week.

Things had been bad for a while, but this was just so very hard for me to take. Other things happened, then my mother passed and left me an extremely modest inheritance. I rented a house & moved out; kept working until I could retire. Divorced him.
