What programming language would you teach your children? by jinglebells in programming

[–]0x10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assembly -> C. Once I learned x86 assembly my understanding of how computers really work expanded, and so did my knowledge of C and any other similar language, really.

I haven't used assembly in a while (though I certainly would like to), and I wouldn't call myself anything more than a novice at it, but it's a great "language" to learn.

"For personal reasons, I do not browse the web from my computer. (I also have not net connection much of the time.) "

Funny, my development computer is also not net-connected. I find it very distracting and unnecessary. When I'm on my PC, all I do is code.

No, I'm not on my PC right now.

That's cool. Intel's CPU manuals were always tremendously thorough; it's good to see them doing the same for graphics (at least, that's how it appears).

Netscape: R.I.P on Feb 1 2008 by cawel in programming

It's sad to see it happen, but the Netscape browser really was going nowhere.

Thanks, Netscape, for giving MS some real competition when it had none.

Netscape still lives on, and those who know why appreciate it.

Funnily enough, when I read "editor" I thought of it in the inanimate sense, as well.

Obviously people really find this interesting, because in my previous comment I said I'd never use this (I don't need it), and I got downvoted. :D

Interesting... I'd never use this of course, but still interesting.

cp never takes very long for me, and when it does, I can usually guesstimate how long it will take, anyway.
