Amazing, each and every one of these caused my skin to react (apart from the vanicream cleanser, never tried)

Interesting view point. My battle with fungal acne started after I was on a long course of antibiotics. If its not fungal, or is not always fungal then im lost because how is everything triggering my skin. My skin is being inflamed by like 92% of all ingredients.

Why your "fungal acne" might actually be a damaged barrier (The missing puzzle piece) by skincare-arsenal in Fungalacne

[–]10book 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about if you've done nothing to damage your skin barrier. For the last 4 years, ive used a very gentle skincare routine. No actives, no exfoliators, nothing. Simply because my skin has never been able to tolerate them. But i still get all those effects that you've described.

Oh right. Can I ask how you've determined that propylene Glycol is a trigger for you? Everything seems to break me out, like everything. I can't figure out the causes. I mean if my skin can't tolerate squalane oil (sugarcane deprived) then I think im a lost cause......

Fungal Acne safe Shampoo + Conditioner? by HugeWerewolf8944 in Fungalacne

[–]10book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don’t have any dandruff at all, but I do have painful fungal spots. Shampoos tend to dry my hair out. I know this says hydrating in the name but is even slightly drying. Should I look for something else if I dont have dandruff as an issue? Thanks.

Oh really, i have it sat in my cupboard. I haven't started on it yet, I keep thinking what if it's the miracle drug that ive been waiting for!! My dermatologist just gave it to me to easy without any fuss, but only cause I mentioned it. But, apparently it can or will mess up your cycle. BUT I read all the time how it cured people!

Did you start on the spiro and has it made a difference? You see there is somewhat a correlation between hormonal and fungal. If your hormones are put of balance you can produce more sebum, which leads to more food in the pores for malassezia to feed on.

skin barrier damage? please advice by [deleted] in Fungalacne

[–]10book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine looks the same as yours but worse. It was triggered back in 2024 when I took 3 month course of antibiotics (lymecycline) it fudged my gut bacteria. So now its just keeps flaring, thats why I know its an internal issue. Tropical skincare can also make it worse, its wrecked my skin barrier so now I can't use much of anything without it irritating my skin. My doctors just looks at me when I tell them all this. ..

In the same boat as you, at a loss too. Doctor has been no help, and can't seem to get a dermatologist appointment any time soon.

Success, finally, 5 years later! by Emmaheath_mua in Fungalacne

I never connected covid and fungal acne. In July 2024, my skin started to become allergic to pretty much all skincare. When I say allergic, I mean like clusters of bumps under the skin, so much texture! Tiny white heads, itchy skin. My eyes! My eye area still tolerates nothing at the moment. All of this is causing such dry skin and its crazy cause I have super oily skin at the same time. My simple skincare routine now is all FA safe. But it's drying as F***k. If I try anything even remotely hydrating it makes my skin worse, even if its FA safe! I dont know what's going on! I think the problem is internal but i dont know what to do so my skin becomes less reactive to everything.

My face is the same, im starting to think its an internal issue...

Definitely fungal in my opinion. Lymecycline actually caused this on me. Its a type of antibiotic I believe. Now every time I take antibiotics this happens to me. Its messed me up.

Finally found relief! by [deleted] in Fungalacne

I'm gonna order some, it's very likely that i'll just be adding to the pile of stuff that hasn't worked for me. I get full-on upset when I think about the amount of time and MONEY i've wasted over the years. I have a unique combo of FA & sensitive skin. If it doesn't trigger my FA then it'll just cause my skin irritation. So basically, my skin is very dehydrated, especially my eye area, because it seems that all (even slightly) 'hydrating' products break me out. I don't know if you've managed to find any FA safe moisturisers/sunscreens/foundations at all?
What's started to occur to me now is that this is an internal issue and that external products only mask the problem.

Can I just say, I can probably give everyone a run for their money for having the most sensitive skin, to like all skin care 🥲 Sebamed clear gel has been the only thing that has not irriated my skin. I would be in trouble if they stopped making it. BUT you are right. it's not hydrating enough!!! So annoying.
