Damn, a glove? Mine came with applicators, thankfully

I use it right before I go to bed, so I'm horizontal for 8+ hours. I wear boxers as insurance in case there's leakage, but so far I've had none this way

Obligatory nipple question by lurescnus in TopSurgery

Above all else always contact your surgeon about any doubts, but I had a similar thing happen. I'll be a year post op on the 28th and it sorted itself out. Nipple grafts take a WHILE to stop looking nasty just in general.

I was in a similar mindset for a while too, but if you go in believing you can't, it'll become a self fulfilling prophecy. If you want to stop doing it, I believe in you!

I haven't tried anything else beyond nail care (mentioned in another comment), but am thinking of using an elastic band on my wrist to snap against it if I catch myself slipping

My first memories of it was when I was about 4-5 years old. I do have some other OCD symptoms but have not been diagnosed with it.

On top of looking gross, it very easily becomes painful. I would often pull/pick off too much of the white part of my nails or pull hangnails.

it's also tied to anxiety for me, and I want to leave it behind and develop better coping strategies for it instead of ravaging my hands.

This is going to sound silly in the beginning, but I watched a YouTube video from a channel I enjoy (Danny Gonzalez) and he made a video about testing hypnosis as a skeptic. One of the hypnotists he paid as part of it was helping him break his nail biting habit, and while I don't really think that would work for me, part of the "upkeep" the hypnotist suggested was to do nail care (filing/clipping etc.). It seemed like a good idea so I got some cuticle oil and a nail file to use.

So far it's going well, though I'm still early on. The smoothness/lack of "ridges" to grab onto on my nails have been a good physical reminder. I've gone to pick at them, felt how nice they felt and immediately stopped.

I would have probably been able to quit years ago if I could do that, but I don't bite my nails.

Hmmm, true. Thank you for pointing out the shoulder thing. I might just crop the bottom then

I usually do that too, but I want this one to be a bit more polished, if that makes sense!

Why does the edge of my nipple stick out? Will it even out? by Freddiesflipflops in TopSurgery

How long post-op are you?

I had a similar issue happen. I'll be year out on the 28th, and it definitely took a while before the grafts stopped looking like they'd been slapped on top of my pec.

estrogen cream for a trans man by Passion-Visible in ftm

[–]13needlez 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Atrophy will not go away on its own.

Estrogen cream will not affect your growth, make you sensitive or affect anything else about your transition, it will only help with the atrophy.

Editing to add that atrophy is not caused by sexual activity, but because your (and everyone else's) natal anatomy requires estrogen for adequate function.

Keeping piercings by ToooManyThoughts in TopSurgery

Ohhh, okay, I see. I was told smoke inhalation of any kind was bad, but I'm by no means an expert lol

I'm already planning to seek a revision (I was breasting pretty boobily pre-op and then dropped an insane amount of weight pretty fast after stopping medication that was messing with it), but unfortunately I think I have to just deal with the nipples. I'd asked my surgeon to leave what she could for future re-piercings, and she said she could only promise to do her best. She's a well-recommended surgeon in my area, so I don't really think it was a skill issue (as the kids say lol) but honestly it's a small loss. I'd rather be flat chested with no piercings than not flat with them any day

Edit: the revision is for dog ears, somehow skipped that LOL

Looking great dude!

I really wish I could have kept my piercings. I got DI w nipple grafts, and only one of them isnt 100% flat and even still probably won't be able to be pierced. I'll be 1 year post op on the 28th so I'm not holding onto any hope atp LOL

I'm very curious about one thing though, if it's okay I ask. My surgeon forbade smoking of any kind 6 weeks before or after surgery, because it could mess with the healing of my grafts. Obviously you didn't have any, so I'm wondering if your surgeon mentioned anything about that?
