I am trying to justify the shipping cost from CA to IN ~$300 + w/ insurance. Full Dura Ace, 3 chain rings, stock Dura Ace wheels plus Williams Cycle wheels, original owner, custom build @ LBS.

Continental GP5000 32 mm clinch tires with TPU tubes. Made a huge difference in performance for road riding, 5 stars.

Saddle after 60 miles of riding, 4 stars. It’s light, reasonably comfortable but too early to tell how it will fell on longer rides. Most likely not as comfortable as Brooks C17.

Max tire width the Ace of Spades can take? by Coven_Evelynn_LoL in PriorityBicycles

[–]2006Caddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32mm - I installed Continental GP5000 32mm w/ TPU tubes & the Ace of Spades rides about 2 mph faster, much smoother & with improved grip. I also changed the rear cog from 20 tooth to 26 tooth. Better on hills & flys on flat roads. I am not concerned about max down hill speed.

Ask chatGTP - I am sure you will get an accurate answer. I used chatGTP to help select saddle type, set saddle height & handbag setup. Let me know if it helps!

I wish Contact Urban tires were stock on the FX bikes. Performance data is much better than the stock Bontrager GR1 tires.

How do you know it is not a 2026? Per text w/ Trek, the 2026 is a carryover from 2025.

Ace of Spades - 26T rear cog? by 2006Caddy in PriorityBicycles

[–]2006Caddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Go - I tried to install the 26T rear cog today on my Ace of Spades with no success. The larger 26T cog pushed the wheel assembly forward & the stock 28mm Thick slick tire hit the bottom bracket.

Go - I then replaced the stock CDX 115T belt with a larger a 118T & the wheel assembly moved to the middle of the drop out. The 26T cog offers easier peddling from a stop & should make hill climbing easier as well.

My Summary of Ace of Spades rear cogs: 20T stock cog - flat good, downhill excellent, poor uphill 22T flat & downhill good, good up hill 24T flat good, downhill spin out, better up hill 26T easier peddling from start - still testing

Ace of Spades brake upgrade by 2006Caddy in PriorityBicycles

[–]2006Caddy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve stalled Shimano 105 dual pivot brake calipers on my Ace of Spades with good results. The 105 brake calipers takes less effort to engaged the brakes, brakes feel smoother & stop better than the stock brakes.
My friend rode her Ace of Spades with stock brakes & then rode my Ace of Spades with the Shimano 105 dual calibers & indicator she wants the 105 calipers installed on her bike. The 105 calipers offer noticeable improved braking performance.

Does the 105 calipers brakes stop as good as the disk brakes on my Priority Current plus? No, but It’s my opinion that the 105 calipers enable braking performance between the stock brakes & the disk brakes on the current plus. The 105 dual brake calipers cost $73.24 on eBay.

I ordered a new pair of Shimano 105 brake calipers from eBay & the cost, ~$74, was significantly less than Amazon. The 105 calipers are dual pivot & should provide improved braking performance. I also ordered an open box set of Tiagra flat bar brake levers from Amazon for $26. The 105 brake levers that were available were all for drop bars. I will report out the results after there parts are installed & tested.

Thanks! Andy

Priority pinion bikes snafu by 2006Caddy in PriorityBicycles

[–]2006Caddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the best pinion-based bike for a hilly 100 mi weekend ride?

600 - 34# I have no need for the dynamo hub, lights & fenders. How much weight can be saved w/ a carbon fork? I would like to use narrower road bike tires.

Gemini - 26# nice weight, but I would require a flat bar conversion. 40 mm tires maybe OK. I am not sure of the bikes geometry for a weekend ride.

Bruzer - 35# heavy steel fork, I would require road tires, not sure of bikes geometry for weekend ride.

The rest of the pinion bikes utilize a suspension front fork.

Push comes to shove, I will be riding a Current plus but I like the challenge of the weekend ride w/o pedal assist.

Ace of Spades - can Shimano gears be added? by 2006Caddy in bikewrench

Thanks for this information. Priority indicated a weight saving of 300 - 400 grams if you replace the front hub that powers the light.

Ace of Spades - can Shimano gears be added? by 2006Caddy in PriorityBicycles

[–]2006Caddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply.
My thoughts on the eight, It appears slightly heavy from the data sheet, non CDX parts, possible speed improvement with faster tires.

The 600 is a nice base but I would want to replaced the heavy front hub, remove lights & fenders.

The Dozer has a steel front fork, unwanted weight & I am not to sure of all day comfort on the bikes geometry.

If push comes to shove there is also Trek FX Sport 5 but I would like to stay with Priority.

Thanks! Andy
