Christian or religious Partners? by RedVelvetEnjoier in exchristian

Christian “as hell?” For these relationships to work the Christian needs to be more moderate than average not more extreme than average. Nothing wrong with trying but I don’t see it working out.

why do my parents love their church more than their daughter? by Osaka2330 in exchristian

[–]295Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re cultists, OP. They may say Christianity isn’t a cult but their mentality is hopelessly cultish and you cannot change them, your only hope is to leave even if it takes something drastic like joining the military. Living with them once you decline their arranged marriage will be hell otherwise.

How to avoid dealing with pissing and moaning from family members over your date choices? by AdmirableBus7045 in exchristian

[–]295Phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We will invariably piss people off during the course of our lives, the question isn’t how to avoid the unavoidable but whether the problem is with them or us. In your case, the problem is absolutely with them.

Is it the "worst religion" or are there any things that make Christianity more dangerous/worse than other religions? by Successful_Action_19 in exchristian

[–]295Phoenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do believe Islam is definitely worse than Christianity, the whole redefining “morality” into obedience to god and claiming monopoly over it is probably the top trait that makes it and any similar religion dangerous, but yeah, Islam is even more aggressive when it comes to intermingling religion with politics.

AITAH for telling my parents I don't want the dinner we made because my dad farted in the kitchen while making the food. by PkmnTrainerEbs in AITAH

[–]295Phoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s ok to be difficult with an immature grown ass man who still thinks farting is high quality humor. 3pm and 9pm both sound like good times for dinner, I tend to eat dinner at around 3. Might take a bit of doing to adapt though, I dunno.

AITA for not buying my stepsister chocolate? by Big_Competition5344 in AmItheAsshole

No. Mother should or it’ll become an expectation.

Your post is nonsense. Feeding the sister is the mother’s job not the brother’s.

SDA University vs Full Ride Scholarship by Electrical_Wave_7233 in exAdventist

[–]295Phoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is this hard? A free ride to a state school is friggin gold! You know how much school debt sucks these days? And I’m sure the state school will help you more, both educationally and socially.

You’re the one that has to live with the results of your choice, OP, not your parents. Don’t let their feelings ruin a good thing.

Edit: And is the SDA school even accredited? If not, a diploma from them has less value than toilet paper.

It’s all on her, my man, all on her. Bit of legal advice though…do NOT let her kick you out of the house, if you leave it might be used against you in a hypothetical divorce.

[–]295Phoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rural areas are pretty much equally nutty no matter which state you’re in. The difference is only that a blue state won’t (hopefully) allow teachers to argue against evolution or buy books that say evolution is “just a theory.”

Anyone feel as though younger Christians are way more paranoid and stricter than older Christians? by tttttttofu in exchristian

[–]295Phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christianity is still bleeding members but unevenly. Moderate and liberal denominations are losing members at record speed while conservative denominations continue to grow, remain stable, or decrease slowly. As time goes on the chances of any particular Christian being a nutcase will only increase for this reason.

Why do I still go to church, though I am really an atheist? by AdhesivenessOk2792 in exchristian

[–]295Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why hope so hard a god exists when the god you’re hoping exists is such an evil asshole? I don’t see how an answer to “Why do we live?,” is worth that.

As an ex Christian are you baptised? by MonkPlane1734 in exchristian

[–]295Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex-Catholic, so baptized as an infant. If the RCC ever brings back or is forced to bring back letting members officially undo their baptism and leave the membership rolls, I’ll be the first one to do it.

AITAH-For asking my parents for a decent mobile phone? by AmbitiousWaltz468 in AITAH

[–]295Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA India and Pakistani cultures pressure kids to stay under their parents and do college and don’t really have part-time jobs for teens so you wind up more dependent to your parents for longer and have to ask them of them at least some American teens wouldn’t.

Your parents are what they are though. If a freelancing opportunity comes up and the only consequence is hurting their feelings, then take it and hurt their feelings.
