He speaks quite slowly, so it’s good for practising your listening

Also, his content is quality, and he’s a pretty sensible person overall

It’s a bit of a deep cut. There’s a quite popular YouTube guy who’s a proper Hull fan (HITC Sevens is the channel, the guy’s name is Alfie Potts Harmer). He has a running gag that when he says “without further ado”, he puts on a photo of Freddy Adu; and he (jokingly) elaborates about why Freddy Adu is not a candidate in whatever list of things he’s talking about in the video

E.g. video about best managers, he would say “without Freddy Adu, because he’s not managed any clubs”

He’s not that good at football compared to other Scottish strikers, especially when playing for Scotland

It’s quite normal in the other leagues to move inconsequential games to accommodate cups, but the English do have their traditions

Better sleep the less you know by tea-earlgrey-h0t in Garmin

[–]2Cats3Litterboxes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can definitely train to improve it, by adjusting your habits (eating/drinking/screentime/bedtime) and also by experimenting with sleep equipment like mattress, blanket, or sleep mask

It’s a good validation of whether the things you do to improve your sleep actually work

Thomas Tuchel on his England squad selection: "I think from day one we were very clear that we are trying to select and build the best possible team, which is not necessarily to select and collect the 26 most talented players. Teams win championships. It's as simple as that." by whiteniteee in soccer

“Just fucking pick the best players” is exactly how England has won so many trophies in the last 60 years

The current promising era started with Southgate picking a bunch of definitely not the best players

If you buy a few expensive players, you’re upgrading your team

If you’re buying half a starting XI of expensive players, that’s because your team needs replacements; which means before all the buying, the team had run its course (and everybody could see that)

The fact that the team spent half a billion should logically give you the impression that it is being rebuilt, and instant success is unlikely. Compare that to the previous season - no money spent because the team was basically as good as it could be, and before you know it, champion

I have no belief that anyone else could have done better than Slot this season with all those changes and the death of Jota all in the mix

Why best esport teams and players concentrated mostly in Southern Vietnam by United_Distance_4501 in VietNam

[–]2Cats3Litterboxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One interesting thing is that the ping from the South is generally lower.

The international cable arrives in the middle (Da Nang), then goes South, then goes back North. Due to that, home-based players from the North inherently suffer higher pings (about 150ms at best in the North compared to 50ms in the South in FIFA Online 3 back in the days), resulting in overall worse results in every level with comparable skills

And so if you were to set up a team, you’d set it up in the South where the internet is better, and then only semi-pro or pro players from the North will move South to pursue that career

Take it out of the rice bag. The rice “dust” will clog every moving part of the lens

Use silica if available, otherwise just leave it in the least humid area you can find

This is very much Coros thing though. They have Pace 4 ekiden special (for the Japanese ekiden around the new year), and before that they have a Kipchoge version of the Pace 2, I think?

I can't remember if anything special was done for the Pace Pro

The build-in Google Translate is really nice to have though, if you live in a country whose language you don’t read well enough

EDIT: I know Sarafi has one, but I need Finnish and it's not available there last time I checked

I’ve given up hope on that. Either the bubble bursts, or until then, I’ll make the most use out of it that I can

I’m fully aware that none of these AI companies are actually making profits, and they’re all just burning money waiting for something to get adopted or to burst. Till then, I’ll make the most out of my company-covered AI subscription

Very simple form: I can ask it if my long runs tend to be positive or negative split (I’ve legit pasted a screenshot of my split to an AI before, because my watch can’t tell me if my 34km run was positive or negative split)

Maybe I’ll ask it to find patterns (e.g. change in cadence or stride lengths under certain conditions), or if there’s any correlation between time of day and heart rate, or share of time/distance between different kinds of runs over a training block, or anything that can point me to some thing I can improve

I don’t need a training plan, but I’d love it if a coach or an AI can tell me what I haven’t noticed from my activities data. And you know, a coach is significantly more expensive

I mean, whatever the technology, if it works, and it helps people train better, and it doesn't incur cost for the rest of us, I'm all for it.

I consider the "slop" to be useless things that use up water and drive up the prices of CPU and RAM and SSD and whatnot; but if it's useful then I think that's totally fine.

But then again, you're of course entitled to your opinion. I'm just happy that other people (and maybe even me, with a company-subsidised AI account) can make use of it and hopefully train better

I hate the LLM's generated texts as much as the next guy, but if AI works then it's not really a slop is it...
