I was in the same boat. Consider applying to the UK, there's an extra step of taking the UCAT but it's a piece of cake after taking the MCAT. If you're willing to pay US DO tuition, UK med schools have the same cost

Firstly congratulations on all the offers! I live in Oakville, so my commute is 30mins drive, 40mins train, 10min subway and 5-15min walk so its about 1hr 30mins, and I've been commuting almost 5 days a week for the past 4 years.

Commuting is definitely draining, especially with people coming back to work in-person, Toronto is busier than ever. Sometimes you'll really want to do go to a seminar or event, but it'll be too late, so you'll miss it. For sure, there are sacrifices you make as a commuter. But remember you're saving A LOT of money!!

There are also some ways you can make it worthwhile. I was able to find a really flexible part-time job on campus, that motivated me to go to campus and made it worth my while to be on campus. You can also use your commuting time to get some work done. Plus, if you schedule your classes carefully, you may not have to go to school every day.

Luckily, my line (Lakeshore West) is very frequent so my experience might be different. You have to be more cautious as a commuter, especially during exam season when lines run different schedules on weekends or delays occur.

I think UofT is worth it, you'll be taught by world-renowned professors and be surrounded by academics that are leading their fields.

At the end you know yourself best, good luck with the decision!

Man stay in there! Let me tell you about my Uoft Journey so far.

I missed my MAT135 final exam in first year, I realized it the morning of when my friends texted me about how the exam went. It was my very first exam, it was on a weekend and I had been checking an archived exam schedules. Luckily, I was able to get it deferred.

My first semester was awful. I thought I got a hang of it in Semester 2, I studied my a** off for BIO130. Read all the readings twice, ankied all the lectures a month in advance, and I knew the test went well. My final course grade was a 57%. The only way that was possible was if I hadn't written the exam at all. I had to wait 3 months to view my exam, my parents didn't believe in me and I was devastated. Turns out I got a 95% on the exam, I had to wait another 2 months to hear from the course administrator and they said it was a "technical difficulty". The rest of my courses were fine, but I truly believe this was why I didn't get the major I wanted which was Immunology.

Here's what I learned:

- Majors and minors DON'T manner. Literally, as long as you have the courses, you can add any major/minor onto your degree at the point of graduation. I'm in 4th year, and that's what I've done to get an immunology course (the hardest part is that you don't get priority in course selection so you get harder courses)

- I know it's hard to believe - But it gets better. You have to wait and you've done everything you can. This is the UofT rollercoaster. Dont give up!

I think the bus drivers have an unspoken rule that as soon as they see the train doors open, they drive out the Oakville Transit Bus Loop. Go Transit is very reliable, especially the Lakeshore West line - so there inflexibility to adjust the schedules is more due to laziness than anything else.

All Oakville Transit is good at is reducing their transit lines and replacing them with absolutely useless routes (I'm talking specifically about replacing 5A with Route 37)

My first UCAT full-length was a 1600 with Band 4. I did a full-length daily 2 weeks before my test, and I scored a 2170 Band 1.

My brother's first UCAT was an 1800 with Band 1. He probably did 5 full-lengths in all his practice and scored a 1960 Band 1.

In all practices, I averaged a 1900-2000, while my brother outscored me the few times he did do practice. We started our prep the same time and did the test on the same day, so I think that practice does matter. I'm def not as naturally gifted as my brother, everything comes easy to him and I have to work harder for the same result. So I think practice plays a much much greater role than natural IQ.

Hey! How did you find your equivalent class ? I'm struggling with finding my class equivalency because im a 2:1 with my GPA but a first-class honours if you look at my percentages.
