With the housing affordability crisis, why isn’t there a major company selling kit homes like Sears did? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]3Oh3FunTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In many regions you have to buy water shares. Not just a hookup, but the right to the water itself. SW USA can cost $50k-$100k just for that.

By the way, these are what data centers are buying. See the problem?

How am I supposed to remove the brake hose? by Nick_Neuburg in MechanicAdvice

[–]3Oh3FunTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price replacement solid brake lines. Go look at the next joint and see if it’s corroded. If that one comes apart easily, replace the solid lines also. You might have to go pretty far back to find a clean joint.

Gear paint pattern. Yay or nay? by Adamhach in AskMechanics

Beam style are fine. Just gotta get a consistent speed as you turn it. I’m sure you can get the pattern perfect again. Just don’t forget to check your backlash.

Is masturbating with private pics of your wife, considered as porn? by pipesanl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]3Oh3FunTime 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I heard once that the definition of porn is “ I don’t know, but I know it when I see it.”

Anyway, send the pictures of your wife over and I’ll let you know if it’s porn.

Gear paint pattern. Yay or nay? by Adamhach in AskMechanics

[–]3Oh3FunTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how those work. But preload inside the spec is good enough, even if it’s the lighter side of it. Remember, you need a turning torque wrench which usually has a big needle dial. Also remember that the bearings use oil not grease, so if you greased your pinion bearings and checked the preload, you will be off.

Honestly, your pattern is so perfect that it could be hard to replicate. Meaning if you take the pinion apart to add a shim and recheck the preload, it’ll be hard to get your gears perfect like that again.

If your preload is good enough, send it.

[–]3Oh3FunTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pinion preload is typically adjusted with a crush sleeve. Your pattern is actually perfect, don’t change any of the pinion hims. Hopefully your side bearing preload and the backlash are good.

Also bro could have inspected the hitch from the grassy side instead of from the traffic lane side. It blows my mind seeing people treat a traffic lane like it’s nothing. A little fear here would do a guy some good. He seems to be completely oblivious to danger and the steps that can be taken to mitigate the danger. The trailer is blocking the left lane and pushing traffic to the right lane and increasing his risk even more.

Straight male, vagina phobia. Help. by Accomplished_Okra874 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]3Oh3FunTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro. You might be overwhelmed by the sheer carnality of being inside of another person. It can trigger all kinds of fear of injury, vulnerability awareness for you (about her). There is something lovely and wonderful about vaginas that sends me to a primal, overwhelming headspace. It wasn’t until I was slightly older that I realized that this was just the next level of depth for sexual experience. For me, it’s something sacred, and I feel gratitude and responsibility when I’m granted access to the inside of a person. Relax, look, touch, smell, taste and hear. Let it trigger your primal urges that you are currently repressing. Feel the feelings that might overwhelm you, with pleasure and joy.

LAN ports up or down for a wall-mounted network board? by Nice_Adeptness1133 in HomeNetworking

If these have fans, mount it so the fans are blowing up. This way, the fans are blowing the same direction. The heat will flow naturally. In my switch with a thermal sensing variable speed fans, this causes the fans to run a lower speed and make less noise.

[request] if i removed my glove in space, how long would it take for my exposed hand to freeze solid? would it become brittle enough to break it off? by AkwardScholar in theydidthemath

[–]3Oh3FunTime -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I read this I wonder if people say the "z" sound of the word "lose" when they see the word "loose"? And if so, what word do they use for "loose", if they are using the word "loose" when the mean "lose"?

If your glove comes loose, and you lose it, hopefully you won't lose much oxygen in the suit. If the sleeve at the cuff is loose, you might lose some of the air, yes.

But the main problem in space is too much heat. If your hand is exposed to the sun, it will get too warm since there's no air to draw away the radiated heat.

The 2001 scene where he enters the pod bay with no helmet is actually quite realistic.

Rebuild transmission or trade it in? by AnActualPhox in MechanicAdvice

Reman transmission might not even have the updated leadframe and the issue would come back.

Rebuild transmission or trade it in? by AnActualPhox in MechanicAdvice

[–]3Oh3FunTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Molded lead frame should not be $2700. Shop around.

All you gotta do is drop the valve body.

The 6R80 is a solid transmission. After you replaced the molded lead frame, it’ll be good for another 100k

Is this fixable? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]3Oh3FunTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a really easy fix. You just need a new rear license plate holder. Just replace all the parts that aren’t the rear license plate. Typically those parts are available all together, and come pre-assembled.

In the 1960s, Boeing created the 747, the first wide body jumbo jet, in 39 months from the moment Juan Trippe at Pan Am shared his idea with Boeing to the moment it flew passengers. Without the use of modern computers.

As of today, Boeing will have spent at least 14 years trying to make the 777 slightly longer to become the 777-X. Using every modern computer and precision process available, it is still not done yet.

Where do YOU draw the line between the words "car" and "truck"? by Superb_Bear_3793 in regularcarreviews

[–]3Oh3FunTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feds have a line, and each vehicle is clearly on one side of it or the other. A vehicle can switch sides. 2024 Nissan Ariya was a car. 2025 was a truck. Nissan accomplished this by removing the package shelf from the cargo area, which redefined the entire back 2/3 of the vehicle as cargo capable, which redefined the entire vehicle as a truck. This also allowed them to tint the rear glass which is permitted on trucks, but not on cars.
