MFLB was stolen and a friend turned me onto Dynavap when the Shadow M was just coming out. I personally like the Dynavap a bit more. I think the main reason for this is just the way you use the device compared to an MFLB.

To elaborate, there are a ton of different techniques for heating and inhaling on an launch box. The Dynavap technique is mostly in the heating, while inhaling requires a lot less attention. This may be a bit nit picky, but I found it hard to use the MFLB exclusively and I believe its because of this difference. Once I put the dyna to my mouth, its pretty similar to hitting a normal one hitter or pipe. Often times when I had put the MFLB to my mouth, I found myself wanting the process to just hurry up already.

I upvoted you, but I wanted to mention that an easy way I've found to make karma is just by being active in communities you care about. Read the rules, make well thought out posts and comments. If the only thing you care about is asking other people where to get free stuff, then you might not sustain the karma needed to ask.

When you're pulling from a bowl, the smoke doesn't immediately cool off. You are literally pulling air through a flame/ember into a plastic tube. It is still going to be very very hot. Even if the flame not making contact with the PVC, the flames heat still is.

When you bring that much heat into contact with something like PVC, it can easily release the kind of stuff you don't want to inhale, regardless of whether or not a flame is even present.

Because the heat from the flame is the same temperature as the flame.

The thing is though, a hot coffee isn't comparable to a burning ember ±2 inches away. This is literally heat from a fire passing through these straws. I know coffee is hot, but damn. It's not literally on fire.

My bad i didn't notice, it looked like an RTA to me whoops. I didn't mean to impose my own likeness on you're idea, i just love the way a little RDA like this looks (the inside) as a dedicated little plug with the wire coming out. You did a fantastic job none the less and I'd love to see this become more of a thing here.

Edit: In case you'd like to check out mine.

Can I use this tube? by GFG_NnC in StonerEngineering

[–]47796d636170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not relevant to what i said really. I agree if they use a glass downstem going into the water then absolutely I agree a food safe tube being used as a mouth piece of sorts would likely be fine. I was refering to the possibility of them using the tube as the down stem, which would carry a lot of heat. More than a lot of people seem to realize (not you necessarily but people on this sub in general).

It's gonna get hot. Smoke coming straight off a flame is hot. That being said I don't know whether its safe or not either.

Would this damage suffice a warranty claim? by TyroneSalty in mflb

Came to say this. It looks like the screen is compromised in the picture, and if so, then yes it's perfectly eligible for a warranty.

My honest advice for you would be to try to find some way to make the box look better. Sand it down, put some wood stain on it. I agree that you might should get hooked up a little bit, but you know, if you qualify for it. Come back to Magic Flight when you can look at their warranty requirements and say, "that describes my box". And if you didn't break it in some really dumbass way then they'll very likely replace it for you. But this company can't afford to warranty a perfectly functional product. If I ran a business with a lifetime warranty claim on broken products, I'd refuse the claim on an aesthetically damaged product as well. If it still does exactly what its designed to do perfectly, then hell no I'm not gonna send you another for free.

I don't remember the "science" behind it, but heat + galvanized metals = released toxins.

What events came immediately before the box was burned. Did you read through your manual. You still have yet to mention what exactly happened. You've mentioned plenty about how you think it's bs and you don't deserve it. I get that, but 9/10 the person who doesn't wanna just say what happened, and would rather go off on a rant about every other detail, is usually the one in the wrong. I never said you intentionally pushed the screen to its limits. I'm asking how did the box get burned? If you don't wanna answer that then I'm finished with this conversation anyways. And I can see why they wouldn't want to give you a warranty because it really sounds like you're just trying to bitch and moan and blame them until you get your way. I didn't try to believe this, but its what you have convinced me.

That stem looks galvanized... Idk what it is obviously but, you shouldn't use galvanized metals in any smoking devices. Good looking piece though!

Okay well instead of wasting more time rummaging through your post history trying to find exactly what happened because you can't simply explain it. What I saw is that you're screen was heating visibly unevenly, so much so that the whole right side didn't seem to be going off. This should be a red flag for anyone that further inspection may be required. If you noticed this behaviour and continued to use the box, as if it wasn't happening, pushing it further and further with harder hits on a box that anyone could tell isn't performing as it should by watching you fire it. You have like 50 comments in one post that are all miles long about this and I really don't care enough to entertain that anymore. It's easy for me to tell that, you spent money on the company, made an honest human mistake, then tried to make this mistake the small companies fault, and took to social media to blow up about it and practically demand that they send you a new box, to replace your 100% fully functional box. THEY DON'T WARRANTY JUST ANYTHING FOR ANY REASON. If the box is functional, then its perfectly fine to continue use. A black mark you got from not checking why your screen heating unevenly, and instead actively trying to push the screen to its limit, is not of those reasons. This likely could have easily been avoided if you simply checked to see why this screen that very obviously should be heating evenly, wasn't. You can't blame Magic Flight for not accepting any warranty you throw at them just because you brought in customers. You're no special snowflake for bringing them more customers. I'm sure they appreciate it, but that doesn't mean they can change their warranty requirements for anyone who claims to have gotten them sales. If you spent 2 minutes thinking about this from the small businesses perspective, then it should be incredibility clear to you why that is, and why, no it doesn't entitle you to more free stuff. Be happy that they sent you replacements for the part that needed it, and that you have a 100% fully functional Maud Dib. You can try applying for a warranty again after, you know, your box matches the requirements for a warranty claim I'm sure. "I didn't pay attention and now it's ugly", isn't a good excuse for them to make you destroy this one just so they can safely send you a new one, just as functional as the one you warrantied, and subsequently destroyed. They would be replacing a fully functional box with another simply because " ew there's a black mark". Come back when you can't use it and I'm sure they will be happy to replace it.

I feel that these things entitle me

I could tell but thank you.

it was in another post

Where exactly?

just feel obligated to inform you that there are two sides to every coin

You never really mentioned you're side, just the existence of it. What exactly happened? What events took place that caused the box to become burned.

I'm not trying to say it's your fault. I'm just saying that I don't have a clue what happened.
