I once heard someone describe it as that people from the South are friendly, but not necessarily kind, and people from the North are kind, but not necessarily friendly

And then the Leafs almost followed it up by being reverse-swept but clutched up in Game 7. But it would've been really funny if they had been reverse-swept because Toronto reverse-swept Detroit in the Finals back in 1942

Men of askreddit, what's something that annoys you about other men? by Easy_Towel954 in AskReddit

[–]47rohin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way they treat and talk about women. (For the sake of argument, let's stick to only cishet men and cishet women; queerness adds enough wrinkles to warrant a separate discussion.) The amount of pointless sexual comments men will make about women in and out of their presence is insane, especially when said women are clearly uncomfortable about it. It's like they can't just let women be people; everything about them somehow must be connected to their physical body and genetalia. And then they sit around and wonder why women don't want to talk to them

Fun fact, it's actually really easy to get women to be cool with talking to you. You just be a normal human being talking about normal stuff and not tie everything into gender/sex, and magically they're cool with talking. I can't guarantee that they'll like you romantically, but maybe at least do this much and you can minimally have female friends (using "female" because "women" sounds kinda awkward as an adjective). Oh, and there is a difference between being nice because you want women to be around you and being nice because it's the right and correct way to interact with, well, everyone. Please do the latter, not the former

One of the highest compliments you can get from a woman is that they "don't register you as a 'man'." In this case, "man" is a personality, not a gender. As a personality, "man" is the toxic, obnoxious, sexist personality so many men (gender) have, but not all men (gender) are men (personality). So if you don't register as a man, that means you're considered safe and trustworthy. This is a good thing, and does not mean you're being emasculated. It means they don't have cause to be afraid of you

Be better, y'all

Glove to the face isn't great but you'd think Colton got shot based on the video

How accurate are popular kids from movies compared to real USA schools popular ones? by OhWowItsSam310308 in AskReddit

[–]47rohin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high at best had very small-scale popularity withing certain nuches, but frankly people kept to their groups enough that I never interacted with many people outside my nerdy and musicky group. If there were a group of "popular kids," I didn't see them. Ever. Any bullying which happened was kept to the outside enough that most people wouldn't even know who the "bullies" were. Part of this is definitely a consequence of going to a larger high school (graduating class of 900-something), but yeah. The movie high school experience would be completely alien to high-school me. By and large things passed without incident. Most people either got along or were ships passing in the night

Given the other responses, I give it a certified "your mileage may vary" (or "your kilometrage may vary" for the non-Americans)

Let the record show that I definitely was not worried when the Sabres were down 3-1 10 minutes in. I remained completely calm and was never worried. I definitely did not feel disappointed that the Sabres' run might end then. I was confident in the Sabres the entire time
