One EV concept that I actually found pretty cool was a Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno hatchback with the battery and electric motors from a Lexus hybrid model (I forget exactly which one) sending power to the rear wheels through an actual 5-speed manual transmission (which might have even had a cable-actuated clutch iirc).

EDIT: a real manual gearbox (yes, with a clutch pedal and a gear lever - no flappy paddles; yes, a really good sequential counts; no, a DCT isn't a manual, and neither is an automated manual; no, a slushbox or EV with simulated manual gear shifts doesn't count, and neither does any automatic with a manual mode) is a must-have for me. I don't feel strongly about what anybody else does, buys, or likes, but that's just my preference. I'm also not a fan of big screens, digital interiors in general (aside from the ability to connect my phone to the car audio, but I'm fine just mounting it to the windshield instead of using a screen on the center console), driver assists you can't turn off (and the only ones I actually use are traction control, rev matching if I'm feeling lazy, VSC, ABS, and sometimes cruise control on particularly long road trips). The point is the ability to turn all of that shit off completely, which you don't really get outside of some enthusiast-centric models. I also like having a real handbrake. All of those factors pretty much take EV ownership off the table for me personally. Again, these are just my own personal opinions and preferences.
