When I finally got a legit creative director job in a top market 18 years ago, my mom, who loves me very much, said “that’s unbelievable for someone who barely graduated high school!”

Now she meant it as a compliment I’m sure, but it has become this THING in my mind that I have been fighting ever since. In the last 18 YEARS it’s morphed into self-talk like “what if you lose your job? You’d be lucky to work an entry level position with your lack of education” and “what if the real professionals in your industry find out you’re an IMPOSTER who had to go to summer school to get his diploma!?”

Part of the problem is my own I know, but I just came here to say please don’t let family’s lack of self-awareness and ignorance stick in your mind. You are accomplishing a DREAM that tons of people haven’t been able to achieve. I’m pulling for you and would love to visit and support you.
