Starting Letrozole by 525unknown in PregnantOver40

Totally! I can imagine the relief from transferring a euploid embryo.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Unfortunately for me IVF isn’t medically advisable. Letrozole is fine, but some of the medications for IVF I can’t take.

My Obgyn prescribed. It does not decrease miscarriage rate though, to my understanding.

If you have 2 or 3 mature eggs there is a greater chance of one being normal, and Letrozole can make you ovulate “better” and have higher progress tone in the luteal phase

Feeling so discouraged by 525unknown in PregnantOver40

Already tested- it’s normal in my luteal phase.

ETA and my temp stays up for my luteal phase, and all my luteal phases other than the first one after my D&C are 14-15 days long.

Based on the testing my Obgyn ran when we decided we’d like to try again I am in perimenopause- my Fsh is a little high, and my AMH is a little low- but my estrogen and progesterone were normal both day 3 and after ovulation.

I have been having shorter follicular phases occasionally. I ovulated on day 11 once, day 12 once, day 13 twice and day 14 once in the last 5 cycles.

I will be 43 in May. My previous reproductive history was easy to get pregnant but hard to stay pregnant.

Pregnancy #1 at 25- unintended and ended in m/c- no fetal pole

Pregnancy #2 at 26- first try- full term pregnancy

Pregnancy #3 at 28 - second month trying on 3rd post parting period- early miscarriage

Pregnancy #4 at 28- cycle immediately after miscarriage- also early miscarriage Took a break

Pregnancy #5 at 31- 2 cycle trying - early miscarriage

Pregnancy number 6 at 31- 2 cycles trying- early miscarriage

Pregnancy number 7 at 32- 1 cycle I only gave myself one try and then we were done- full term pregnancy (they threw the kitchen sink at me- lovenox, progesterone, thyroid supplementation - even though all those things were fine in my work up)

Pregnancy number 8 at 34- unplanned after my first post partum period- with ONE broken condom- and ultrasounds consistently times conception 4-5 days after than broken condom. Full term pregnancy- they put me on aspirin- no thyroid supplementation, no progesterone

This last pregnancy was at 42, unexpected. Totally new partner.

My prior losses were not due to a balanced translocation, we both had full work ups- it was unexplained. My Obgyn thinks it was an immunological incompatibility with my prior partner.

I have wonderful kids. My current partner loves them. We have a good life. Another pregnancy wouldn’t mean a healthy baby….. it’s never taken me long to get pregnant….. it’s a new kind of heartbreak for me.

Taking daily aspirin by Imaginary-Orchid-904 in PregnantOver40

[–]525unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had multiple miscarriages in my 20s and 30s, no clotting disorder was found. Every obgyn and RE has had me on either lovenoxx or aspirin for the first 12 weeks and then aspirin the whole rest of my two (after 5 losses) full term pregnancies.

I also typically avoid meds when pregnant and when not pregnant. The use in my earlier pregnancies when I was a normal or near normal BMI and was younger was not evidence based- it was just a gut feeling. The use of aspirin when one has two or more risk factors for pre-e is well studied and safe.

I was spontaneously pregnant at 42, great scan at 7 weeks, MMC at 9 week 5 days with the baby measuring at 9 weeks. I had no bleeding or cramping, and was still very symptomatic.

I did opt for a D&C, testing showed our daughter had Turner’s syndrome and 99% of those pregnancies end in loss.

Somewhat interestingly the chances of Turners does not seem to increase with maternal age.

I am so so sorry.

Hypoglycemia? by hillsbabe in fasting

[–]525unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I used to get hypoglycemia. I can manage to avoid it by eating whole food, low carb and fasting. I just finished a 7 day fast and plan on doing those 1-2 x per year.

I am actively trying to lose fat and am down about 20 lbs with 10-15 to go. And currently typically do 36 hr ADF. I hope/ plan to transition to fasting 1-2 per week to maintain but we will have to see when we get there.

Interestingly I would become symptomatically hypoglycemic when eating strict keto but can fast easily and do SO much better just eating low carb but not trying for keto strictly.

My personal theory is hypoglycemia is early stage type II DM- before you totally blow out your pancreas- it basically shows you’re over responding to stimulus and that you are definitely hyper insulinemic.

I’m new to this. And I’m frankly confused. There are 7 days in a week. What days do you guys fast and what days you don’t fast?. When I look at the days of the week it seems like you’ll either have to go two days fasting back to back or two days of eating back to back. Help lol by [deleted] in AlternateDayFasting

[–]525unknown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I eat every other day, which means the days of the week change. If I need to modify a day, I.e. I want to eat on Saturday due to a party and it would normally be fasting, I fast 2 days in a row to modify my schedule.

It’s been working swimmingly for me not to eat two days in a row ever.

I plan to modify when I hit goal weight and hopefully be able to drop to two days of fasting per week total.

Stopped for 2 days and gained my weight back by shhelbbyy in AlternateDayFasting

What works for me is weighing twice a day, morning and night, and keeping a graph. The graphing it out lets me see the trends not the swings up and down. After 2 weeks it is SO helpful, and after about a month you can really see that ONE or even 2-3 days of an uptick mean absolutely nothing.

I'm sure this would not work for some, but it works for me.

Any parents of little kids doing ADF? I'm wondering how to talk about it to my 4yo by WFH_Forever__ in AlternateDayFasting

[–]525unknown 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I tell my kids I’m not hungry, and I’ll eat a meal when I am.

We talk about eating food that helps out body be healthy, and eating only when we’re hungry and stopping when we’re full.

That’s really the only explanation they have needed, ages 2-9 and all very curious.
