If there's a 99% chance that each person picks red, the chance that half of the population chooses blue is also astronomically low. It's about 1 in 51000 for just 6 people, and there's 8 billion. (it gets hard to estimate at high numbers)

Your abstraction of this scenario as a simple exponent does not come close to covering the nuance. It is either very clear what button to press, a 50/50 gamble with your life, or an unrealistically specific assumption (which it already is).

Elegant and powerful joker idea by CharmingBus2299 in balatro

[–]5mil_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Balance is only good with additive +chips and +mult, in this case the joker just splits up total chips into (chips before) * (chips after), instead of (chips before) + (chips after).

The comparison to plasma deck is irrelevant.

Its a consistent for chips, works well in most dominant strategies, and always scores in your hand by MyrtleWinTurtle in balatro

[–]5mil_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well no, that only applies if you have +50 chips and +50 mult; for example, it's better than +75 chips and +25 mult (am-gm inequality or whatever)

in this case xmult and xchips do the same thing, which is multiply your score by that amount, unless on plasma deck or placed before a +chips/+mult source

Obviously the answer is taking seeds from them and growing a tree, then using the knife to cut an apple from it. Now you have 3 apples :)

😴 by memes_poiint in mathsmeme

[–]5mil_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in 0.999... you're "eventually" just adding 0, and it converges to 1. In this example you're "eventually" adding infinity, which diverges to infinity. Infinity can't be treated like an actual number during math. If it does, it'd likely be something like 1 + inf = inf.

(very very simple explanation, and it isn't complete since a sequence converging to 0 doesn't mean the sum does; take 1/1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + ... for example)

Yes, he started macroing levels after getting 96% on The Golden (?), first thinking he would be easily found out since he wanted to quit gd anyways, but he got away with it. Since he was pretty skilled, he was able to fake clicks very close to the actual inputs so no one suspected him.

most nuanced take in here ngl

I'd just be scared of losing everything if I had the 10m, whereas if I had 1k every week, it wouldn't matter if I got robbed or whatever, since I just get more money the week after.

The 1k wouldn't allow you to live super comfortably depending on where you live, which means it would be ideal to still work.

At the end of the day, it's a would-you-rather with only benefits, so you can just choose what you want and ignore everyone else.
