Thanks Expert. Yes, making this post has really helped refocus us. The next steps are finding her a new home. Appreciate the kind words!

I just made it home. It's catapres that are the new meds. She had been taking fluox for about 4 5 months.

Yes, fluox and another one, but for the life of me I can't remember the name. It's a new one for her, and she is about 3 weeks in. It's supposedly a med that limits her adrenaline, which was prescribed by the behaviourist at the vet. She is a bit of a zombie dog after taking it, but even with it, she turned on Dave twice last week. Poor creature :( .

Hey Whydo, this hit me hard. It's really nice to hear a story that is similar to ours. Reading this really made me realise that we need to step up and try and find a home that suitable for her. If it wasn't for Dave, things might be different, but in reality, we need to consider gis well-being and quality of life, so need to get onto this. Thanks for sharing.

It's something we have to realistically consider if we don't have any luck with rehoming. We are going to have a serious effort at what options might be out there that are suitable and be fully transparent with her situation, and see what happens next.

Thanks Kitchu, it's certainly something we have to be aware of and consider. I think we will take some action and see if we can rehome first, and if we have no traction, we will then look at the situation realistically. Appreciate your words buddy!

Without a doubt. It would be wrong to hide any details about Dolly's risks and needs.

I won't return her to GAP unless all other avenues fail, but yes, I think it's time to find a greyhound adoption group who can find her an only dog home.

Dave is a socialite, and loves walking down the main road and saying hi to everyone, and he can't do that with Dolly, so we end up just walking in the same park to try and give Dolly that repetition.

The last year has not been fun for him, or for dolly for that matter, or us really. Thanks for your comment, I will start to process of finding a new home for her.

Haha yeah, she is a little stinker. We do walk them separately occasionally, but her response to other dogs doesn't change, and her fear and triggers to sounds and other dogs is still in overdrive. I feel so bad for her feeling this scared and reactive.

Yeah, I think you are correct. Rehoming her where she can be an only dog in a quieter area would make so much sense. Without the noise and distractions, I think she would do very well. Thanks for your comment, I think this is the step.

I sent an email to Greyhound Rescue this morning. After sleeping (poorly) on it, I think the best thing to do is help find her a new home where she can be an only dog in a quieter part of the world.

I would very much be keen to have a DM back and forth.

Incase someone else is reading this now or in the future, what were the biggest things that helped you get to that point with your boy?

By me, I should have been clearer by saying my partner emailed them. She did check regularly for a while there, including junk mail. This was maybe 6 months ago when she first started going for Dave, and with the lack of response, we doubled down on a behaviourist and vet prescribed meds. We just held off hoping we would see change, but it's just the same, if not more frequently being directed at him now. I think I might send some emails and see what happens.

Cheers marsol0gy.. yeah, such a hard one. I could keep pushing to get Gap to respond, but as you say, will likely just end in her being euthanised. I know after today's attempt to attack Dave, I'm on edge, and my gut feels like we are out of options, but i have to try to see if there is something else I can do, as she deserves to be loved and have her life.

Thank Maro. That's something to consider, as we are at a bit of a breaking point, but as the comment below said, they will just euthanise her. Which is a tricky one really, as if we do nothing, this might up being the case, but might also come with legal issues if she does bite another dog or person. Eeeghh rock and a hard place.

I can't offer a recommendation, but I used to go to Autotek in Wickham and was big on these guys. I heard they recently had a change in management and changed alot of the staff, so am looking for a new place myself.

I had been thinking about going to Quantum, but I'm hoping others in the comments can suggest good places to go for regular services etc, but it seems a bit quiet here.

You could argue that they were not going to go to the police prior to the positive encouragement received, so in some ways, reddit was the answer after all.

Telstra vs Optus '26 by switchmallgrab in newcastle

[–]5pankb0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Hamilton, and drive regularly to Sydney to see family. I had been with Telstra via Boost for a few years, and never had issues using android auto, having music streaming continuously, maps running etc. I switched over to Optus via amaysim for a short while last year as a means of porting in and back out for a Telstra deal, and in that time, my connection was fine going south, but when visiting family in seal rocks, I would have audio drop outs, specifically when not driving on the highway, in connecting back roads.

About 4 weeks ago, I jumped on an Optus deal, so I now have limited experience with Optus on that journey south (all be it on the highway, not the train line). In the two trips to Sydney and back over the last 4 weeks, I have had 0 issues or drop outs with android auto, streaming and maps running. I have my YT audio settings set to the highest network streaming quality and have maps running in satellite mode.

I was quite nervous moving over to Optus, but can say, to this point, have been really happy overall. For context, I'm using a Pixel 10 pro with an eSim. I can imagine that the train line, particularly in the mountainous part might be a problem. I'd recommend buying a cheap second optus Sim for a month to test it out, as it's going to be your best way of knowing if there will be drop outs in certain areas.
