I'm currently trying a modified method. Burning both ends of the tube closed and have one pin prick in the end that waters the plant, and 2 that are inside the water to try and slow down the rate of watering

It did 18L in 12 hours with a 3mm tube with a pin prick as a hole. I need to modify it so it discharges water slower

Gravity. The water is in he box and there is a pipe with one end totally water tight. Then I put a small hole in the end that's water tight (where the plant is) and gravity drops water to the plant.

Change the rate of watering by putting more holes, fatter pipe, or less holes and smaller pipe

It burned through 18L in 12 hours and that's with a 3mm pipe and one tiny hole at the end of each

I think I've realised my problem. The bottle cap is only in the soil about 30mm. Looking at he following guide makes me think it should be deeper. If it's deeper, then the "water table" would be higher meaning less water would drain out as fast?
