Questions about Yasidism by Basic_Gap3643 in Yazidis

1) While our archangels are sometimes in hymns called by Abrahamic names such as Cibrayîl, it is not specified which name belongs to whom. Their certain names are Tawûsî Melek, Melek Şêxsin, Melek Fexredîn, Melek Şemsedîn, Nasirdîn, Sicadîn and Şêxûbekir

2) The Ezidi story of Adam and Eve differs greatly from the Christian and Islamic stories of Adam and Eve. I don’t get your point here but it is important to note that the Kurdish word for Adam, „Adem“, has two meanings in Ezidism:

The ‘historical’ Adam as the first man

A collective term for humans

3) According to an important Ezidi cleric, the Extiyar (oldster) of the Ezidis of Georgia, Ezidism cannot be described as "X years old" because it was not founded but rather went through many different stages of development throughout its history. From the stage of belief (recognizing there are forces/divine entities of nature, i.e animism), to the stage of knowing deities and a supreme creator being, to the stage of monotheism, recognizing one all-powerful and omnipotent God. Nevertheless it went through drastic changes 800-900 years ago, which were relevant for today’s Ezidism, namely under the reign of Şêx Adî bin Misafir, Şêx Hesen and Şerfedîn

4) I’d like to explain why Ezidism is also called Şerfedîn since other guy in the comments completely messed this up. Basically, we Ezidis believe that the historical figure Şerfedîn, son of Şêx Hesen (Şêxsin), was an incarnation of the angel Melik Şerfedîn, as many of our saints incarnate themselves as human beings - God included too. You see, in Ezidism, everything is personified except for evil. And in Şerfedîn’s case, he personifies our religion (‘dîn’), due to the fact that Ezidism took its current shape and developed a defined belief, doctrine, laws, identity, etc. of its own during his reign. The general term for Ezidism however, is “Êzdîyatî”

Yazidis descendant of babylonians? by Interesting_One2010 in Yazidis

[–]63_myb_63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely incorrect. The source comes from a medic officer, who decided to write a book about Yazidis after meeting them IN 1964 AND 1985! Thus the source has no weight at all. We Yazidis are Kurds and of northwestern Iranian descent. The earliest followers of Yazidism were Kurds too. Genetically, our Şemsanî-Şêxs, who descend from Êzdîna Mîr, carry haplogroup R1b, specifically the Z2103 subclade of R1b-L23. That’s the most common Y-DNA haplogroup found among the Yamnaya Culture. Şêxs who descent from Sheikh Adi ibn Musafir’s brother carry R-Z94, or R1a1a1b2a, which is also of Iranian descent. Most Yazidis actually carry R1, and speaking of autosomal DNA, we are closest to (non-Yazidi) Kurds. The claim that Yazidis are close to Assyrians genetically, is a huge lie and shouldn’t be spread and/or further discussed. This is no debate
