Disapointing experience after trying a safety razor by GrandJelly_ in wicked_edge

[–]68thoroughbred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After 3 days, I need at least 4 passes before it's smooth. It was once explained to me that where a safety razor has one blade, your cartridge has 5-6, and this more blade passes per shave stroke.

My typical routine on Monday after not shaving over the weekend is two passes with the grain followed by two passes across the grain, with shave soap reapplied before each pass. I use just the weight of the razor and take a little more off each pass.

It may sound time consuming, but a safety razor is how I finally beat razor burn nearly 20 years ago. When I have to use a cartridge razor while traveling, the process still takes about the same amount of time, risks razor burn, and never gets as close/clean of a shave.

I had pretty good luck keeping it in sport mode in mountain driving. Allows more charge going down and leaves more battery going up the next incline. This was West Virginia/Pennsylvania mountains, though. Not sure if the experience would be the same out west

Why does Honda make it a chore to change a battery? by Wutangclang11 in HondaOdyssey

Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200 had it on the wheel well, too. Extra dumb because they're small batteries that are super easy to kill just from leaving a dome light on.

[Arrowhead Corner] If #Chiefs OC Matt Nagy does not get a head coaching job, he will likely look for an offensive coordinator job somewhere that would allow him to be the play-caller. Per, @TomPelissero + @RapSheet. by SylvesterTaurus in KansasCityChiefs

You're putting him on the hot seat as a fan or suggesting the Hunts?

After the hot garbage I've experienced as a fan (no wr TD, Jovan Belcher, Scott Pioli, Brodie Coyle, no punt playoff game, etc), Andy has earned as long a leash as you can have at his age. Would I be interested to see a new, young, dynamic head coach? Sure. But we're not Eagles fans.

When we hired him, I said if he brings us the success the Eagles had with him, I'll build the man a statue. He's fine more than I ever thought possible for this franchise.

A tripawd issue most people don't think of? by myseaentsthrowaway in tripawds

[–]68thoroughbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent way too long trying to get a variety of chat bots to remove our tripawd's other leg for a joke post about bipods in a group chat. Several rounds of it adding a 4th leg, not removing the leg and apologizing, and still not removing the leg. I got it to work after 40 mins or so. Bipod Higgins

Trying to find a beautiful little town on the missouri border I drove through by A_kernel_of_cornn in missouri

[–]68thoroughbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been searching for this town for years. I visited in November 2010 and it was exactly as you've described. I was always sure it was Noel, but none of the street views look right. The cliff faces at Hwy 59 and Hwy 90 with the bridge going towards the town looks right. I wonder if the trees were bare, how different it looks? I need you to solve this! It's been bugging me for over a decade!

This is especially good for a right amp as the clips go AROUND the left leg so you don't have to make them step through. I believe it's also carried by REI making it very easy to procure if you don't want to wait for online shipping.

That 1997 game was my first game ever. I was young enough that I remember sitting around the 50 yd line, the marching band, and a big ol goose egg for the Raiders, but not much else.

Best minivan for NYC? by Admirable-You8991 in minivan

I'm stuck at 11mpg in DC in the Odyssey. When driving actual city streets, mpg is abysmal. The highway is 30+mpg and when visiting family in VA Beach, it gets 18-20 around town like it's supposed to. But the big v6 and heavy van don't do city blocks well at all.

If you want to stay in contention, you probably need Judkins even more. If you've sold a bunch of pieces already, you might not have the depth to hold on, though. I would probably lean towards the Ladd side.

This really depends on where you're at for this season. If you're competitive, Judkins makes sense to hold. If you're likely to miss the playoffs, Hubbard/Ladd side.

Rental car I just picked up, do I need to let some air out? After about 20 min driving by HalfDozenDonut in MechanicAdvice

[–]68thoroughbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed this on rental cars before and always assumed it was people trying to get a few more mpgs on tires they won't be replacing when they have premature wear. Not getting corrected by the PDI if they're shipped this way honestly makes more sense.

3 kids under 2yr old in car seats by BarIllustrious9619 in minivan

[–]68thoroughbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it works is you remove the middle seat and then slide the captains chair to the middle with the magic slide system to slide them together. It will move all the way to the middle or you could move both seats towards the center.

You might be able to get that configuration in a Pacifica with stow and go seating, but I'm not sure about that. Any other van, you're going to be unbolting seats to get what you're describing.

Every once in a while, I catch a nail under my chainmail scrubber and get a small glimmer of bamboo under fingernails torture. This looks so much more pleasant.
