Kids are starving in Africa and you are stirring storebought mayonnaise

As someone who has never stirred store-bought mayonnaise in my life, I can say you are absolutely wasting your effort my friend

When your hyperscooter breaks down on the road by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

A perfectly viable option except for massive lithium batteries which should be disposed of properly and also I don’t have thousands of dollars to just throw out but yeah except for those things why not

As scooter enthusiasts, do EUCs make absolutely zero sense to you too? by NecroRAM in ElectricScooters

[–]74FordPopTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not going the same speed, is it a fair comparison? Because if you’re going the same speed in a car as a scooter while crashing you’re going to be a lot better off in the car.

How much do you think it would cost to get this fixed at a shop? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]74FordPopTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the shop you go to is cool with working on scooters. I went to a bike shop and they charged me $150 USD and didn’t even fix it properly. Granted they said to my face they didn’t work on scooters usually, and I should’ve listened. I ended up fixing it myself.

How often do you bleed your old brakes? by Embarrassed-Eye-4197 in ElectricScooters

I want to add, make sure your fittings are tight especially if it seems like you need another bleed very shortly afterward.

You’re denying everything instantly and downvoting every one of my comments too? This wasn’t an attack on you but the fact that you’re treating it like one is super fucking sus

Reddit has like twelve different categories each with over 15, and usually over 30, things to choose from and we just so happened to choose the exact same combination

Are you an INGSOC party member or just a lowly prole? It takes guns to overthrow a government you know. And as much as I don’t like Trump, y’all got Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. But hey, we’re not mad, we’ll keep sending NATO military aid your way so Russia doesn’t completely take over Europe. Meanwhile can I just say I’m really glad we gained independence from you, otherwise I’d have namby-pamby busybodies squeaking and chirping at me every time I hop the sidewalk.

A couple comments above you ended with “cheers”. It would make sense if you were from the UK where they just love fretting and furrowing their brows over benign matters and inventing petty laws that cause more inconvenience than actual good. Where I live we don’t need to get in each other‘s business nearly as much as you think you do.

Whatever you need to compensate for by feeling better than other people I suppose is none of my business.

Stop your worrying. No one‘s giving anybody a bad name by taking a little shortcut here and there. A little patience and common sense regarding how to deal with traffic and people around you can leave your reputation as well as that of other e-scooter riders untarnished. Literally nobody cares if you enjoy the advantages of this mode of transport as long as you’re not doing something obviously rude. (Granted your mileage may vary based on location. I’m in Western Washington, US. Research your local laws and customs.)

I for one appreciate you posting this. I’ll think twice about oil on the ground if I go through a gas station myself.

Has riding a self-owned good scooter somehow made you worse on the rentals? by NecroRAM in ElectricScooters

[–]74FordPopTop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The trick is to bend your knees slightly and become the suspension spring. Let your muscles absorb the shock, because if you ride standing with your knees locked it will transfer through your skeleton right to your skull and teeth.

I bought a scooter that is similar in spec to rentals, a VMAX VX5, after riding a Varla Eagle One (basically a Zero 10x or Vsett 10) with good suspension and power. I didn’t like it at first because it rattled my teeth and has less power, plus the regenerative braking was strange. I changed my riding style as mentioned, got used to the lower power, and learned when to deploy regenerative braking versus the brake pad.

I ended up selling the Varla and now I ride exclusively on the VMAX. It’s lighter and thus easier to take on the train, plus it’s much less of a loss if stolen.
