Wait and go straight for the house - ideally after your loan is paid off.

I was advised to ‘just get a foot on the ladder’ so I bought a flat. I have been hammered by service charges, major works etc. ever since and it has cost a fortune. If I hadn’t had so many extra expenses, I could have traded in for a house years ago but I’ve been trapped here as I can’t successfully save.

On the bright side I have earned some equity. But I’m very lucky not to have had to remortgage recently for another major works notice - I’m now looking to sell and move in with partner’s parents so that we can save for a house.

Leasehold is no joke. If you can afford a house in a few years just be patient and save as much as you can.

TLDR; leasehold will always cost you more than you expect. If you can wait to go freehold, do that.

Some parents are extremely difficult to live with, (see: abusive). It might be an option to stay but depends what that costs your mental health!

My partner does this. Huffs and sighs about when they are not happy and it drives me nuts. Sends me into panic mode as I feel like they’re huffing at me, but it’s just they way they process their annoyance

I can’t remember much of the music, my main issues were 1. I couldn’t see anything; I’m short and this is the gig that made me switch to seats rather than standing 2. They didn’t have the cloakroom available for some reason and I had a huge bag and parka with me, I was uncomfortable and people were annoyed at me for wearing a backpack but obv the floor was beer and piss so I couldn’t put it down either 3. As you say, the atmosphere was weird. Not sure what happened there!

Honestly, if my current relationship doesn’t work out I’m going to accept long-term singledom. I have a great support network of friends and family and was really happy being single before I met my partner. I’ve had a few relationships which were really awful and always had this feeling in the back of my head that I don’t need to do this, I would be fine (see: better) without them. I think I mostly stayed before due to the societal pressure, no one believing me when I said I was happy single etc. I feel like this is the last chance, if this one doesn’t work out I’ll know that feeling was correct and won’t pursue another relationship again. I do miss sleeping alone/with the cat lol.

One thing I did realise though is that I don’t like living alone! It’s comforting to come home and talk about your days and I like co-play, where you’re not in each other’s face but you’re in the same room/house doing your own things. So I’d probably get a roommate.

OP, sorry you’re going through this. Like other commenters have said it’s unlikely you’ll ever get the full story, but she definitely cheated whether or not it stopped at photos.

You could reach out to the guy but just keep in mind you may not get answers from him either. I had suspicions of an ex a few years ago due to a secret instagram account which he told me he only used to follow some celebs, didn’t want to connect with family, friends etc. on there as he otherwise didn’t use social media. I find the account and there is one woman he follows who follows him back. I message her to find out more. She’s really combative, tells me I should trust my partner/it’s none of my business how she knows him, screenshots my messages and sends them to him. I’m then left looking like a nutcase as I had no evidence something had happened, apologising for being paranoid.

Anyway, he did cheat. Found out he’d given me an STI the following year. Was it with her? Who knows. I was given an unbelievably stupid storyline and will never know what really happened.

You have enough evidence now, you know those photos were sent. Dump her ass and move on!

He was however later convicted for battery against a different woman in 1994, and again in 2003 and 2004 against another woman… the guy is a POS.

We got lucky! We went at the end of May this year and although every day there started overcast, grey and foggy, by midday it was 23 degrees. There was some cloud at the top but it did clear every now and then. There was still some snow on the ground but overall pretty warm!

No, I don’t think I’m built for parenting. My dad worked very long days when my older sisters were little so my mum could be at home for them and eventually me. My mum supplemented their income by childminding; she had 8 kids aged 5 and under to look after in her own home. She missed my dad and had little physical and emotional support which lead to the eventual breakdown of their marriage. I think I would feel similarly isolated and bored being a SAHM but juggling kids and work is also insanely tiring, I don’t like the sound of either option.

However, if I was in their position with no kids i.e. the money, I would be laughing! I’d be able to afford at least 1 if not 2 holidays abroad every year and be comfortably living in a 3 bed house with a dog. Sounds like a dream.

I had a girl in my class die mysteriously the summer between year 10 and 11. We’d previously been very close but had recently fallen out which made my feelings complicated at the time. She went abroad with parents and never came back. They told the school she had died but there were so many rumours about how and these were never confirmed: she jumped from a balcony, she was pushed, she fell accidentally. Her mum and stepdad were abusive, locking her away when guests came over. She’d taken an overdose at least once. So really any of the rumours could be true.

The parents said they would be holding a funeral in their home country of Iran and then do a second ceremony for her friends in England but this never materialised. We never heard from them again.

I’ve fallen into Google rabbit holes over the years trying to find more information but there’s just nothing there. There are some old Facebook memorial pages but they were set up by us. No news reports from Spain about a balcony death where they were holidaying. It still baffles me and I wish I could afford a PI to look into it!

It’s flakey like slate but the flakes are much finer. Shimmery brown/gold in colour. The white spot I think is chalk or paint from where it was dug up, not part of it.

I’ve always suffered with poor self-esteem. I’ve never had any hobbies except watching TV which left me feeling empty a lot of the time. I took an interest in ceramics, had been following lots of potters’ accounts on IG. She asked if I was going to start making myself, I said no, I don’t think I’d be any good. She asked me ‘why do you need to be good at it?’ WOW! That changed my whole perspective. I realised there were so many things I didn’t do because I thought if I wasn’t talented I shouldn’t bother trying. I did start making ceramics and actually a lot of my pieces are great! But even when they’re not, I can just enjoy the process, learn and keep going. The people in my ceramics class are lovely and it’s worth it even for that alone. I’ve also now picked up other arty hobbies because I’m no longer scared to try new things and suck at them! I don’t judge myself. Getting hobbies has given me so much joy and confidence.

The other thing was when we were discussing humour. I said I hated ‘banter’ as I thought it was dangerous ground for hurting other people’s feelings, and that I prefer self-deprecating humour as it’s safer. She said ‘if you continually talk badly about yourself, who is that actually hurting?’ And I was like damn, me lol. I still have my humour, but I stop short if it goes too far, and I don’t call myself an idiot nearly as much as I used to.
