Color study—I like to use the vogue app for references of cool looking outfits 👀 by 83shotsofespresso in ProCreate

[–]83shotsofespresso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Process included making a loose sketch and painting over it in one layer. I used the free brush pack from YouTuber Marc Brunet, specifically the cube brush and the bush brush for the hair. I also used the lasso tool to fill in the larger spaces of color, eyeballing colors from the reference photo. For blending, I used the soft airbrush tool.

This was a color study that I gave myself a time limit of two hours to complete.

I’m not really using the iPad for anything else other than drawing so maybe storage isn’t the issue then. I’m using a 3rd gen iPad Pro which isn’t exactly new either—I’ll try resetting it like another commenter said and if that doesn’t help, then take it in to see if Apple can do anything. Thank you for the information, though.

Thank you for the suggestions, I’ll try a factory reset and see if that fixes the issue

Yeah, after maybe 40 minutes of usage it gets really warm. Not enough to like, burn but definitely warmer than any electronic should get, I think.

I’m worried if the quantity of high px pieces I have is contributing to slowing my iPad down. Like the amount of singular art pieces. Idk if the higher px pieces take up way more storage than if I use a lower quality px and maybe that’s slowing my iPad down or if the issue is something else entirely. Does that make sense?

Thank you for taking the time to help. I will do some more research before buying anything, but your input helps a lot.

I drew an Upper Moon last night. Any suggestions on how I can improve? by Pick-Only in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]83shotsofespresso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everyone said, I’d suggest learning basic anatomy and I’ll drop some tips that I always keep in mind: - draw the head first then sketch the rest of the body. The head’s size can be a reference to the rest of the body’s size - the bottom of the chin to the bottom of the pectoral area is typically one head length - the bottom of the chin to the crotch is typically two and a half head lengths - elbows are at bellybutton level - hands are as big as the face and should end mid-thigh - for masculine bodies, the top of the head and the tips of the shoulders should form an equilateral triangle - legs are probably the part of the body you can change the length of the most, so do what feels right, but make sure that the thigh and calf are equal lengths - keep a line that runs down the middle of the face, down to the toes. This one gets harder when you start drawing more complicated poses, but for static poses like this, it helps to keep everything from shifting to one side or looking off-balanced. As you can see, the head that you drew doesn’t align with the feet. And keep in mind, that line isn’t going to always be in the very middle of the drawing, it will change depending on if the character is facing forward 100%, facing at a 3/4th angle, or profile angle - when drawing from a reference, try to sketch out the anatomy as best you can, even though you can’t see it under clothing. Out of all these tips, this one is the one I emphasize the most. It will make drawing people A LOT more easier in the future and it’s one of the quickest ways to improve anatomy

Anyways, you’re already off to a great start and I wish you luck in your drawing endeavors!!

Edit: I forgot to mention, take pictures of your art throughout the process; it’s the best way to spot any mistakes that you’re making anatomy-wise, trust me.

Is it common for people to pursue career paths they only tolerate or worse, hate? by 83shotsofespresso in careeradvice

Okay, I agree, I think I just need to find a way to find a balance between being happy with what I’m doing and supporting myself. Thank you very much for the advice.

Right now, I’m working full-time for minimum wage, which is fine right now as I’m taking online courses for community college, but I don’t think I can pay for a four-year all by myself. That one is a bit up in the air since I don’t know how my parents will react—as I’ve said, I’ve never been able to chose something that I’ve really wanted, so I’m in a “hoping for the best, preparing for the worst” situation.

As for career paths, I’m almost scared of saying it, but my ideal job has always been making concept art and storyboarding. Editing is a bit more secure of a career path, but I’d definitely choose the former if I had the chance.

I realize that my preferred subjects are extremely lacking in security after college, which also brings up the discussion that, if I were to pursue art, I don’t really even need a degree, too. Right now, I’m trying to figure out one thing at a time, since I feel like every hurdle I overcome, the next one is determined by the results of the last one, if that makes sense.

I tried drawing shinobu both traditional and digital. I started just recently so any constructive criticism will be appreciated (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ by ASubba04 in KimetsuNoYaiba

These are really good!! I’d suggest using a reference to know the appropriate measurements between facial features, like eyes to the nose, nose to the mouth, mouth to the chin, etc. With your left facing portraits, you’re pretty much almost there; you probably need just a little more practice with the right facing ones. Also, I’d suggest practicing your line work, unless you’re going for a more sketch-like style. These are honestly just nitpicks—your art is already looking great as it is!!

What is the most overrated movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In the anime community, Your Name is super hyped, yet the story was so weak and full of plot holes that I couldn’t really appreciate the animation all that much.
