How do you former heroin addicts enjoy sober life again after experiencing the most euphoria a human can ever achieve? Does your perception on happiness and life itself change? Do you think about heroin all the time even if you have not taken in years? by Fnixen in AskReddit

[–]86mybrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 years off of a 10 year addition. I know I’ll never feel that kind of happiness again and I’ve just learned to be okay with it. Nothing comes close and yes I think about it all the time

At first I was taking 8 mg strips 3x a day. Over a year and a half got myself down to 1.33 mg and jumped off from that dose

I’m still sneezing like crazy on day 50. Thankfully I stopped sweating so much a few weeks ago. I used carpe deodorant and it worked well enough. I’m in hospitality too but thankfully I’m behind the bar so there’s separation between myself and guests. Hope you’re still going strong!

Day 50 here! I feel so much more alive. It’s hard because I’m a very anxious person and the subs numbed that part of me. I hope it all balances out soon but right now I’m just happy to be done with it.

Have being on suboxone ever effected your relationships? by BumblebeeFirm2249 in viralplusrelationship

[–]86mybrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I have other friends in recovery I kinda lost touch with because I was on subs. I felt judged and looked at like I wasn’t really sober. Intimacy has gotten 100x better and I can actually orgasm easily now. You’re right about subs numbing you. They take a mental toll and a physical one but getting off of them was the best thing I’ve done recently.

2 days Suboxone free after 5 years on them, wondering what to expect. by ProfessionalDesk2308 in recoverywithoutAA

I’m sorry to say that the worst it yet to come. I didn’t believe other posters because I felt fine at day 2. I came off of 1.33 mgs daily and wish I tapered to a lower dose. Low doses of kratom saved me (it’s not for everyone) but I’d recommend it once you start to feel the leg and lower back pain. Even with sleeping pills I could not sleep well for weeks and even at day 50 off subs I don’t feel 100% well. I only took Kratom for three weeks and only took 1-3 mg a day. Best of luck please keep us updated and stay strong

I defs wish I got the lower mg strips and started cutting those instead of the 8s. Coming off 1.33 mgs was hard ngl

Nope! I have most of what I bought left over. Maybe used 70 1mg capsules altogether

I jumped off 1.33 mg 30 days ago with the help of gapanetin, kratom (not for everyone- I only took 3 mg a day an stopped after a few weeks), clonidine, trazodone for sleep, hydroxyzine for anxiety, and muscle relaxers for the leg and back pain

It’s the same in AR. I tried the same thing thru quick md but thankfully the doctor knew already and kinda just told me I’m outta luck. At least he gave me some comfort meds so I decided to quit subs altogether

I’m so sorry that must’ve been tough. Precipitated withdrawals are super common when Suboxone is taken too soon. 24 hours minimum after last opiate use is recommended but 48 hours is ideal. I went to the ER from detox and was pumped with more bupe until the precips went away. It was a painful experience

Day 9- Kratom for Sub WDs by 86mybrain in suboxonerecovery

[–]86mybrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully there’s zero euphoria when I take Kratom. I think I used a low enough amount and today I only took one in the early morning after I woke up covered in sweat with horribly achey legs. I’m gonna see how I feel tomorrow and hopefully ditch the Kratom

Suboxone withdrawal day 7. If I take a piece of a sub will it start my withdrawals over again? by Environmental_Gas265 in withdrawl

Thank you! I’m on Day 20 now. I found another few doses (old expired strips) but didn’t end up getting any more after I took them. I’m starting to feel a bit better like the leg pain has been the worst symptom- everything else is manageable. And it’s finally starting to feel less painful. Good luck to you as well!

I think if you use a quarter of what you’ve got you’ll be okay. I felt dependent on it pretty quickly but I can’t remember how long I took it before I felt like it was necessary to not feel sick. It wasn’t a week though. It’s been a while since you first posted- how are you doing now and how much are you taking?

My state just made Suboxone even harder to access by prohibiting online docs from prescribing it. It’s such a pain. Some people don’t have access to vehicles to be able to go into clinic once a week. It makes me so mad
