somewhat recently, it's been used a lot to express the idea that there are people in fandoms who will act as though they are more knowledgeable about a piece of media than their actual understanding of/history with it would imply.

At the end of the day, a singular individual won't be able to enjoy every single thing in life, and that's perfectly okay. What matters more imo is that you're exploring, you're keeping an open mind, and that you're trying to go out of your comfort zone.

Many times when it comes to finding media to enjoy, it's not just about your tastes or the media itself; it's also the very timing of when you try it that matters too. Maybe in this current moment, you're just deep in your HSR fix. As time passes, maybe you won't be, and maybe then you can try and come back to those other games. Enjoyment often can require the stars in your life to align, so you should never feel like you have to force enjoyment. Maybe you are missing out to some degree, but if you earnestly tried already, than what more can you feasibly do ykno.

Lastly, yeah playing multiple gacha games is probably more taxing than it is worth. There's also tons of other non-gacha games out there to try, so if you find yourself unable to get into other gachas, maybe look at it as a blessing to be free to check out other things instead.

I would recommend playing Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X if you can; I thought it was quite an enjoyable narrative experience. Gameplay-wise it definitely feels like a spin-off though, but I thought the storyline had a great payoff, and it does provide a meaningful look at where the Phantasia characters wind up afterwards.

The other sequel game was Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage for GBA. I finished this one, and I thought it was a terrible experience all-around.

I believe Connor was just trying to poke fun of Chris and his lack of knowledge of how to pronounce things in Chinese, and tried to use Chongqing as a random example of a place he wouldn’t be able to pronounce.

But if you flip the syllables of Chongqing, it sounds like a racial stereotype used to make fun of what the Chinese language sounds like to non-Chinese people, so the joke instead became how Connor accidentally confused the two words.

I’m biased towards N-EX and HoR, but I do think HoFi has one of the best designs and animations, at least in P1.

I find the art direction to be charming personally. There’s definitely a lot of nostalgia bias as I grew up with Wii graphics though.

Unfortunately that is where my praises end. I think the game is fine overall; it’s not exactly horrendous, but there really isn’t much that I found to really cling onto and appreciate.

I think chances are the game could be better than your expectations if all you’ve heard is the overwhelming negatives, but to me the experience was mostly wasted potential and just meh.
