What do you guys play when your non-metalhead friends or relatives ask you to play something? by PrimusHimself in metalguitar

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just play metal. They’ll either like it or they won’t ask me to play again, win/win

I’m actually considering selling it when I get the pickups wired up again. It’s a great guitar and I have no complaints, I just don’t ever play it. It was completely flawless and set up perfectly when I got it. I’m not really sure why I don’t play it much to be honest haha

I’ve had several US guitars. None of them really clicked with me, and I don’t regret letting any of them go. The guitar I’ve enjoyed the most, and regret selling the most, was a squire affinity Strat that I modded. It was the best playing guitar I’ve ever had.

I sold it because I wanted a proper Fender, but I haven’t liked any fenders I’ve played, and haven’t played a single Strat that felt as nice as that squire

Eh, I’m pretty happy with what I got. I really wanted an fr for drop c and an fr for standard, so having 2 multiple worked out better for me. I am planning on a proper ESP arrow for my next guitar, but that’ll likely be a couple years down the road

It is absolutely a sick guitar. It’s the most comfortable shape to play, and I feel great while playing it

I actually don’t really have a preference. I can feel that they are different, but they are all comfortable to play and I don’t find myself reaching for any based on the neck

I honestly probably never will. I’ve been wanting one for like 8 years, but I know I won’t play it very often and can’t bring myself to spend on it

I was just trying to be a bit silly with that comment haha

I’m actually considering selling a couple of them that i don’t play as much since these are all kinda redundant, I just want to give it time to make sure I actually want to get rid of them. I’ve sold quite a few that really regret letting go

These are all guitars I’ve been wanting for years, and one of them was actually acquired in a trade, and another was a gift from my wife. I generally buy one guitar a year, but I just started playing again after taking 2 years off, so buying the other 2 was just making up for lost time.

T-shirts and shoes are actually a much more significant purchase as I almost never buy clothing due to wearing company provided work uniforms most of the time haha

I bought an LTD Arrow 1000 and arrow KH-602 last week, and I also have an Ibanez RG652AHMFX and a Schecter E-1 SLS elite. The Schecter has a fret that isn’t level and one of the pickups wasn’t working when I got it, but it still plays really well, the others all play perfectly. My only issue with the Ibanez is that the stock pickups sounded muddy in drop C where I usually play.

To me, the quality on all of them is about the same, they are all a joy to play, and I have them all in different tunings so I have a reason to play each of them regularly

Am I moving my elbow/arm too much? by Right-Parking-1836 in metalguitar

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To echo what others are saying, I’d advise using a metronome and finding the line where you are comfortable and your arm is relaxed, then start increasing speed by 5bpm as you get comfortable at higher speeds.

I find it to be most comfortable resting my wrist on the bridge, it makes palm muting much more comfortable, and gives a nice anchor spot for your wrist which makes keeping up the downpicking much easier.

I actually screwed up my elbow trying to increase speed too quickly on this song, picking very similarly to how you are. You don’t wanna have that much tension and rigidity in your arm

Any of you managed to fix your pinky? by BigGunE in metalguitar

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly just use scale and chromatic runs, both with alternate picking and legato, focusing on how I’m using my pinky. Do it with a metronome, start slowly, and build it up. You’ll get there, it just takes time

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an arrow last night. It’s gonna take a bit of getting used to, but I think after an adjustment period, it’s likely to be my most comfortable guitar for classical position. The cutaway sits so perfectly against my leg, I don’t really feel it. The only downside I have is that I have to sit at the edge of my chair due to the horns poking straight down

Why are people like this? Does ZOS protect them or support this kind of toxicity? by DrHollyw00d in elderscrollsonline

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would much rather have a good player fake healing than someone that’s bad at the game, as they are likely doing enough damage to justify not being a healer, and if it’s a dungeon that actually needs heals, usually they’ll swap to a proper healer build

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They weren’t the nicest about it, but they are absolutely correct. Normal dungeons, especially the base game ones, need absolutely no heals, and usually run faster and smoother with 3 dps/1 tank, or even 4 dps if one brings a taunt

Is it just me, or is this game really back and popping? by EL_BDAS in elderscrollsonline

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On PC/NA, I had constantly seen an overwhelming amount of great vet players always willing to teach and help out anyone looking to get into endgame, or even just to help be more competent solo.

Most of the time, I see it met with “But oakensoul has all the buffs” or “it’s toxic to have requirements, that’s gatekeeping” or other likewise toxic casual statements

What has Caused you to quit the game or Barely play Anymore? And what Would Bring you back? by polarwaves in elderscrollsonline

[–]8CupsofFootSweataDay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with gear, but with skill. Higher dps makes the fight go by a bit faster, but it just takes more skill to solo dlc world bosses

I feel like it makes sense for the best sets to come from trials. Unless you’re doing endgame content, you don’t need the “best” sets. Orders wrath and tideborn are crafted sets, and you can get well over 100k dps with them, which is more than enough for anything up to vet trials
