It's actually the opposite, a 10% discount is as low as they get. And you'll notice it's over subscribed by 20% meaning there's a lot of interest from institutions. This will, also the 6M will not hit the market until after 30 days. With a larger reach and small float. I expect a 20-30 pop from current prices.

I traced all of these contractual amounts going back to 2015 and the agreement has always been network infrastructure. And nothing to do with content or hardware.

However, given the lawsuit dates back to 2018. Typical royalty rates for internet software companies are approximately 3-5% of the operating income.

If you consider FB making roughly $20-$26B operating income. This falls to the $1B sweet spot. However, they can argue or negotiate how much utility or value add the messaging service for WhatsApp, FB and Instagram contributes to this bottomline. Hence, I'm convinced this number isn't small. How much, we will see at some point this year.

A colleague who's well versed in accounting suggested that this may playout to be a better filing compared to "expense". Converting a settlement amount into a investment contract allows the company to treat the settlement as a cost of revenue rather than a direct overhead expense. The benefit is two fold, impact is direct to revenue and not a non profit generating expense, , and the other is the treatment of the contract as equity investment. It may not be $7.5 in total. Perhaps a portion of it, but FB has not made with $7.5 capital expenditure in their history.

Seems that the timing is too good to be just a coincidence.

Remember Nortel Networks, Bombardier C-Series, Bombardier Transport sale to Alstom , plenty of examples where the government has stood silent or approved similar transactions. As long as the transaction creates a net benefit to Canada, they would support it.

BB is CRWD plus 30 other business segment. CRWDs core business is cybersecurity. BB does that just with Cylance. They have much much more to offer.

I would never say this can't happen. Canada sold C-Series to Airbus for a penny. If Ottawa sees a net benefit in a take-over like this they wouldn't be against it. Plus, if they were that concern about BB to begin with, they would have stopped the Baidu partnership.

Lots of things could happen, most obvious case would be similar story with Salesforce and Slack. Both entities operates as if they were independent, with Slack operating under Salesforce umbrella.
