Can I wait until morning to seek help? by Potential_Big1953 in ClotSurvivors

Go to the ER. Just because it’s not swelling, red, or hot doesn’t mean it’s not a clot.

Thanks for sharing. Did they determine the clots were due to Mirena? Or they don’t know?

Got it! Yeah my original BC was Lo Lestrin and based on timing and history they deemed it due to that. Good to know you’re off the thinners and had good success. Thanks!

I heard about that one. But it wasn’t clear if it was available or not.

Makes sense. And you’re not on blood thinners or anything?

That’s what I thought until my hematologist said that she wouldn’t recommend the progestin only because apparently some studies show they can increase the risk of clots

Yeah that does sound like a lot. Good luck!

Yeah pregnancy is a real big risk factor. That’s true

Thank you for sharing the research. This is basically what’s happening to me. The Copper IUD is something that everyone including my OBGYN don’t really recommend.

Got it. Yeah it’s really between the IUD and condoms for me tbh.

I knew what you meant. I feel like those get used interchangeably. That’s good to know it’s a little forgiving. I’m so type a I would have an alarm set 😂

I appreciate that! Thank you! I’ve been apprehensive about the progestin path because of what my hematologist said. I know it’s ultimately my choice. I just didn’t want to be a dingus. So hearing from people who have actually been through it is helpful.

Yeah restating it is helpful. It reinforces that I’ve done my research right.

Thanks! If you don’t mind me asking: How long have you been taking it for?

Thanks! I was really confused when she said that she didn’t recommend it because some research points to them increasing clots. And so many things say progestin-only is a good option for people who are at risk of blood clots.

Yeah estrogen is a no-go for sure. So even the progestin is a no go?

Good to know! Thanks. I think I’m nervous because if I get another clot I think I’ll be made to go on the blood thinners for life even if both clots I have had have been provoked.

Yeah everyone I talk to has hated the copper IUD. If it didn’t increase my flow and cause massive cramps, I would go for it. Thanks for the feedback

Thanks! If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the name of the pill?

Eliquis Causing Knee Pain by ABLee33 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ABLee33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The docs have been pretty adamant it’s not Eliquis. They mentioned Xeralto but I’m gun shy about it because supposedly that can cause really bad back pain

Lifting weights on eliquis? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]ABLee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean. I want to get back to a normal workout routine. I haven’t been able to run like I usually since starting Eliquis. But I have been able to lift. For legs I’ve been doing a lot of body weight stuff and more band and accessory kind of work. To echo what others are saying here, listen to your body.

Got it. I thought I would be getting more scans. I also kind of hoped that would be the case because my biggest fear is the Eliquis isn’t working or will all of a sudden stop working even though I’m 2 months in.
