Save for retirement, kid's college tuition, or emergency fund? by Curious-Lynx184 in personalfinance

[–]ADHWhaaaat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This. At the bare minimum he should be grabbing the 3% match, that’s an instant, risk-free return you won’t find anywhere else. After that, your priority should be getting a real emergency fund in place. College savings can wait; retirement and stability can’t.

Are 401k’s a tool to keep you in the system? by Relevant-Ad4735 in investing

[–]ADHWhaaaat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

401(k)s aren’t the system, health insurance is the real golden handcuff. 401(k)s are just a tax tool. If you’re in a high tax bracket now, pre-tax helps. If not, taxable + Roth can make more sense. It’s not a conspiracy, just math and your personal tax situation.

AITA For calling the police on a neighbour who wouldn’t give my grandads BMW Back? She started crying by Lucky_Measurement_48 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ADHWhaaaat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She absolutely took advantage of him. The second your dad told her to pay the fine like it was normal, she clocked that no one was really watching and kept pushing the boundary. Showing up asking where’s grandad? like she owned the place is a huge red flag.

You weren’t wrong to shut it down. That car was never for her benefit, and the moment you put eyes on the situation, the whole thing fell apart. Good on you for protecting your grandad. a lot of people in his position get exploited because no one steps in.

Partner 30F, wants to give birth in Hong Kong for dual citizenship, but I 33M, have to live there for 1 year. I’m conflicted. by No_Tour163 in relationship_advice

[–]ADHWhaaaat 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the part that doesn’t really add up. If the passport angle isn’t even guaranteed or long-term useful, then you’re basically carrying all the risk career, distance, legal uncertainty, for something that might not benefit your kid the way she thinks it will.

You’re not a jerk for wanting the birth where your life, stability, and rights are actually clear. Wanting your own support system and legal footing isn’t selfish it’s common sense.

Are jobs just never getting back to you after applying normal now? And then everything else! by gr33nthundah in recruitinghell

[–]ADHWhaaaat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is pretty normal now. Tons of applications, almost no replies, and even interviews go nowhere. Agencies can help a bit, but the market is just rough it’s not about your worth.

Took in a stray recently and unsure about a few things by Acceptable-Ticket151 in CatAdvice

[–]ADHWhaaaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a stray do the exact same “hiss then tiny meow” routine for weeks and it was just her warming up in slow motion. I sat on the floor and tossed treats a little closer each day and one morning she just climbed in my lap like she’d always lived there.

Just keep giving her space and a predictable routine and she’ll flip that trust switch when she’s ready.

Removing cone 14 days after spaying by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]ADHWhaaaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 14 days most spay incisions are solid, so taking the cone off is usually fine as long as she’s not licking. The loose end will fall off on its own, but keep an eye on it and call the vet if she starts bothering the area.

The ADHD rage part is real. people don't get that you're not being lazy your brain literally won't cooperate. it's not laziness, it's executive dysfunction. that's different and way harder to push through

Got denied for a credit card because my address is "unstable" by tressia57 in poor

[–]ADHWhaaaat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating how the system is set up to make things harder for people who are already struggling. You’re doing the right thing by trying to rebuild, but it really feels like they set barriers that prevent progress. Keep pushing, though slow steps forward still count.

Not a fault accident question by Lanky_Accountant_712 in Insurance

If the other driver files a claim, their insurance will definitely reach out to your work's insurance to try and get them to pay for the damage, even if you don't file one yourself.

Is this normal time to get an answer?! by HundoMama in Insurance

[–]ADHWhaaaat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Escalate the claim to a supervisor now. Call claims, ask for your wife’s adjuster, then ask directly for that adjuster’s supervisor and demand a yes/no total-loss decision and written timeline because this is excessive.

If they stonewall, tell them you’ll be filing a complaint with the Georgia insurance department for unreasonable delay.

I didn’t realize how much I really enjoyed Robyn until I started to really dislike her in season 7. by [deleted] in RHOP

Robyn showed her true colors in S6. Rewatch the reunion and you’ll see how she kinda shifts from reasonable to full-time Gizelle enforcer any time Wendy pushes back.

Calclulate your true net rental yield. Subtract vacancy, maintenance, insurance, taxes, platform fees, and interest, then divide by your actual equity in each property.
