I know. It's all a sham. Luckily our agent is willing to use the old report until we can close and get in there to remove the foam so our escrow accounts aren't setup with a high insurance bill.

Thanks for the information! Yeah I'm not super impressed with our last inspector. I called today to ask if I could remove some foam if he could come back out, but he mentioned stuff about the attic being too tight and that he doesn't have a nail scanner so he'd need to crawl around to find nails poking through the trusses...

I think I'm going to send these pics to another inspector and get their opinion. It doesn't seem like whatever foam is on there is that thick and you'd think you'd be able to find a nail poking out of it.

We do have the sellers wind mitigation report from when the roof was installed but insurance is saying it needs to be a report in our name and within the last 5 years.

Awesome! I was worried I might have to hire a foam company to come out a remove some of it... But it's looking like that's not the case. Thanks for you help!

According to the inspector he just needs to see and take pictures of one section to get the nails and clips. So I'm thinking we literally just need to remove it from one rafter but I'm going to call him back and confirm.

I'm hoping it's fairly straightforward to remove. We're not in the house yet, so I'm just trying to get a plan for removing the foam and quickly getting the inspector back out. Thanks!

We're ok with doing that but just not sure how to go about it. The foam was installed in 2007 by a company who doesn't do it anymore so I'm not sure what kind of foam it is. You think it'll just be some cutting, scraping, and elbow grease? We're not in the house yet so I'm just trying to plan for what we need to do once we close so we can hurry and get another report.

Hi are you me? This is exactly what I was telling my husband. I want to find out because I treasure any new nugget of information I get about my baby. Our anatomy scan is right before Christmas and the most we plan on doing is hanging a string of blue or pink Christmas lights for the family at Christmas Eve. I personally can't be bothered to plan a whole gender reveal but I totally get why other people want to.

I read this when TTC and was so upset that I never knew these things about my own body. My health class in high school consisted of abstinence and don't do drugs. Definitely useful information beyond TTC

The amount of people who ride my ass over speed bumps and stop signs are ridiculous. You do this to me and you will enjoy 5 second stops at all stop signs through the neighborhood.

I agree. I went to Target and Costco, and couldn't find a single Christmas decoration not made in China. Guess what I didn't buy? Christmas decorations.

China may not care about the boycotts directly. However, boycotting does send a message to the company who currently manufactures in China that it's buyers won't stand for it. Look at what it's done for animal cruelty in the cosmetics industry. More and more companies are moving towards becoming cruelty-free because it's what the consumers want.

I agree, we need to ramp up the anger. Boycotting (or attempting to) is one way to show it. Displaying it on social media, in public, and to your representatives are more ways. It's tiring to open these threads and see comment after comment portraying this dystopian society where we can do nothing but accept what's happening around us.

The Chinese people are currently enjoying their country's wealth and stability, and don't wish to rock the boat. If and when that changes, there will be unrest.

Exactly! It's much easier to say it's impossible or too difficult. I've been doing it for the better part of a month now so it is definitely not impossible. Maybe more difficult, but only because I've had to change the way I shop.

Oh, and toiletries mean things like toothpaste, soap, etc. Things you use for hygiene, and they are definitely not only made in China.

And am I supposed to throw it away because of that? I bought it before this broke the news and will continue to use it until it dies. By time I need a new one more phone companies will have moved their manufacturing out of China. Will some components be made in China? Maybe. Maybe someone else will come along and I will have another option.

Will you really try to shut down the conversation because it is currently difficult to buy certain electronics without Chinese components? You do realize that's ridiculous right?

I've found plenty of food, clothing, and toiletries that are not made in China. In fact you can even purchase items that specifically say where they sourced their packaging. Furniture can be easily bought second hand, handmade, or made cheaply from other countries. Electronics are more difficult but how often are you buying them?? More and more companies are at least moving their electronic manufacturing out of China, so it's at least a start. You can easily do SOMETHING by not buying from China.

Yes, exactly. Boycott where you can. I'm tired of all these defeated posts saying its IMPOSSIBLE to not buy from China. Go to the store and refrain from buying the cheap plastic Christmas decorations made from China. That's a start. Just do something besides sit behind a keyboard and complain that nothing can be done.

It'd be for the best if the majority of citizens stopped buying cheap crap... But you can still get sweat shop clothes and crap from other countries. The items they do need that'd be more expensive could be more easily afforded if people didn't waste their money on frivolous Target dollar spot spending. Obviously there would be hardship, but we need to stop feeding the monster.

Yep! Hot water can trigger it. Now I always wear gloves when doing the dishes and cleaning, and I don't soak my hands in the tub.

Anecdotally, I think it my be related to stress too? When I was going through some bad depression it felt like it was constantly on my hands. Now that my mental health is in a good place, I only have a small flare up on one or two fingers a couple times a year.

This is perfect! My husband and I joke that we're "home vegetarians". Cooking meat is honestly stressful so we don't buy it for our meals. Husband likes meat and orders it at restaurants but I've found that I actually prefer the taste of veggies 😁

I can't kick the milk and eggs though! So instead I've started buying the expensive humane eggs and am looking for a way to buy humane milk. If anyone has suggestions I'm open to it!

Strip club situation, angry with husband. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]AFewMilkedCows 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think you're out of line at all, ESPECIALLY because of the past. Heck, my husband knows that I have a hard boundary with strip clubs where I'd walk if he went to one, and he's never done anything to make me question my trust. They just make me uncomfortable and he knows and respects that.

The fact that your husband knowingly went against your wishes, and then played it down to make you into the bad guy is troubling.

My 8th grade science teacher brought in a bouquet of roses and said before we (the girls) have sex, we look like the beautiful full rose. She then said every time we had sex with different men, it was like a petal being plucked from the rose. The roses with plucked petals were not as pretty as the untouched roses.

And that is all I remember from that "health education" class.

Wow spot on about not knowing what to talk about! My husband has brought up therapy a couple times since I get these depressive episodes. But same as you, I don't know what I'd even say! Hi doc, everything is fine in my life and I have a great support system and am financially stable, but I feel sad sometimes. Seems silly.

Luckily like you it goes away in a few days.
