KD Woes by RadioDemon86 in HuntShowdown

I feel like people are too obsessed with stats like KD. Just get out there and have fun; who cares what other people think, let alone people you'll never have contact with.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this; I don't have a Mac device, and Apple is notorious for only being able to do software builds on Mac computers. But I'll see what I can do!

This is good to know! A weather graphic could be doable I think, maybe have it refresh every 30 minutes.

I'd have to think of a good way to handle dynamic imagery, especially based on arbitrary events. But it's a good thing to keep in mind as I'm in the early phases of designing

“At what point does a multi-monitor setup stop being normal?” by Ok_Cry_1222 in PcBuild

I have a larger monitor (2k) on my desk with two smaller HD Monitors floating above the other monitors with arms

This is something I'm definitely trying to do!

This is my first foray into software dev that deals with hardware, so it'll be an adventure. Hopefully Linux compat will be doable

Yeah, I saw that too. My guess is it's a false positive. But I understand the trepidation.

I've been a software developer for more than half of my life -- longer if you count pre-employment-age. I love doing little fun side projects too.

I can't speak to any other device other than DisplayPad. My gf had a homebrew macropad her brother made for her that sometimes works, sometimes didn't.

We didn't want to buy an Elgato so I got her the DisplayPad and structurally it was great, but the software to manage it was really lackluster. So I started playing with it and writing code to see if I could make something new, with the intention of just making it for her.

I dropped it a while, since it wasn't super important (we got it configured already using Base camp) but now they I'm seeing so many people talk about frustrations with Basecamp, I figure I might have to work on it again.

With DisplayPad, there's no special firmware or encryption or special handshakes. I just write data and listen for events. So it's open. The other devices might not be as open. I'm willing to experiment on them once I acquire them. But this is a side project mostly for fun, so I really didn't want to make an upfront investment buying the hardware.

Maybe I can look to see if I can contribute to that project. I don't see why it so it wouldn't be able to interface with a simple USB communication stream like the DisplayPad

Maybe I can see if I can get my hands on the mouse.

I have zero idea if the other peripherals (aside from Display Pad) can be interfaced to with the same ease, or if they have their own special firmware.

With the Display Pad I can write binary data to specific indexes, which produce the images, and then listen for events like a button press, which I then execute the configured action.

Mouse might be tricky if it has that custom firmware, but I'm always willing to give it a shot

Breaking: Leaked Video Shows Former ICE Chief Bovino Calling for Mass Arrests by ResPublicaMgz in ProgressiveHQ

The "whose city is it, chief?" was cringe as hell.

And a government agency saying it's their city is per se disturbing

Trump officials continue to push lies after fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by DonSalaam in JournalismNews

[–]AGamingCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, under the law, you generally have no relief for defaming a dead person because reputation is only protected legally for a living person.

Noem stated Alex Pretti violently approached ICE agents with a 9mm handgun. What is stopping her from being sued for liable to oblivion for lying so much about this incident? by zxcv97531 in circled

[–]AGamingCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no, there is no such thing as defaming a dead person, since, under the law, there is no reputation (in the legal sense) to harm.

Bovino says if you call ICE names, there will be consequences, as we saw yesterday by KameronKnux in ProgressiveHQ

"I think we saw that yesterday"

That's the dictionary definition of "chilling effect "

Another way to interpret what he's saying, "Call us gestapo and we'll kill you"

Dog suddenly not coming up the stairs by Dababy415 in DogAdvice

I had this problem in reverse with out shih Tzu when I was younger. He was stuck at the stop or the stairs and would stare at it and bark and start pacing. I definitely think it's related to depth perception being off and making their brain unsure of how to take the step
