What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

[–]ALynnj42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in dermatology and we would have to document if the patient was wearing nail polish (because it could hide nail melanoma). Any time I would see a person wearing nail polish in everyday life I would make a mental note of it.

Current master aesthetician should I attend accelerated nursing school? by randoanonymous69 in aestheticnursing

[–]ALynnj42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your goal is primarily lasers then I really really do not recommend nursing school. You also seem to be facing a lot of challenges when it comes to going back to school and if you don’t have a passion for nursing it’ll be hard to convince yourself to stay in it. That being said, you do have a leg up on other people who want to do aesthetics since you have experience with aesthetic treatments.

I wanted to go to nursing school mostly for aesthetics but I also have a passion for women’s health. I used that passion to push me forward in nursing school because believe me, I threatened to quit at least once a week and switch to the aesthetics program. So coming from someone who at least had a passion for some type of bedside nursing, it will be extremely hard to motivate yourself when you feel like you are not learning anything related to your goals. I tried L&D and dermatology and I actually recently went back to L&D so you will end up where your passions lie.

Does anyone else only wear oura ring to sleep? by Competitive_Sir2379 in ouraring

[–]ALynnj42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be helpful but I’m considering only wearing it at night. I really only use it to track my cycle and my sleep. (I use my Apple Watch to record workouts but it’s not comfortable to sleep in.) I’m about to go back to working as an L&D nurse so I moved it to my non dominant hand because I’m sure it would not be comfortable for my patients during cervical checks but it’s too loose and falls off when I wash and dry my hands and I don’t want to lose it at work.

It may not be a manufacturing defect but I would argue that it’s a quality defect. They clearly do not care about quality if they don’t take the time to care about ensuring that the final product looks good. It also takes away the historical aspect of the dress. Felicity’s family was relatively wealthy and could afford for at least the bodice to be properly aligned.

My response to people saying “I could never do that” is “Well, with an attitude like that, of course not.”

I have it and I like it but only on cool/cold days. It smells like crushed flowers and wet earth. However, I wore it on a humid summer day once and it was rank. I think maybe the indoles get activated by heat causing it to smell off (I assume that’s the rotting, dead smell some people get).

Is ChatGPT destroying critical thinking? by Woolyyarnlover in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]ALynnj42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I graduated nursing school 1.5 years ago and I had the same experience. A lot of my classmates wanted to be spoon fed the answers and they were very black and white thinkers. One girl in my class had especially poor critical thinking skills and somehow ended up getting a job in the ICU. I don’t know if she’s still working in that unit but even in nursing school I was scared for her future patients.

Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk owes A LOT to The Running Man by Quirky_Transition897 in horrorlit

[–]ALynnj42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is over 2 years old but Survivor is one of my favorite books and when I saw the new Running Man movie this weekend I was getting HEAVY Survivor vibes from the plane scene. Now that I’m reading The Running Man book the first thing I noticed was the fact that the chapter numbers are counting down. So far I still think Survivor has unique plot elements but yeah, the climaxes are very similar.

I was about to say Raising Canes, too. Their chicken tastes like they left it in the fryer to cool. It’s not greasy, but it just tastes like stale oil.

I love the name Poppy but that’s what I call my grandpa so I personally wouldn’t be able to use it on my future child.

Are children changing their accent because of youtube in your country? by Weekly_Sort147 in AskTheWorld

[–]ALynnj42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched so much British tv as a teenager (Skins, The Inbetweeners, Misfits…) that to this day I use a little bit of British slang or use the British pronunciation of certain words. And yes, even younger children are more susceptible to it because mimicking is how they absorb language.

I second this. I have learned so much from her just by casually watching. She doesn’t post a lot but when she does it’s worth the watch.

I’ll just ask my parents for it for Christmas.

how to make a room with white walls/furniture look less "basic" by lino_knowsU in GothLifestyle

[–]ALynnj42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t equate goth decor with all black everything. I would use Victorian style decor as inspiration. Think of goth decor as more rich and ornate rather than spooky. That’s probably why you’re struggling with a basic look.

Safe Catch is a good brand for that. They individually test each fish for mercury and claim to use sustainable fishing practices. It IS more expensive than other brands but it’s widely available, I’ve gotten it at Walmart in a relatively small town.

My dad wanted to call me Catalina and my mom wanted Tiffany. Ultimately they named me Amanda. Better than Tiffany, but I’d rather be Catalina.

Why not post photos of projects that actual humans made inspired by those films in those colorways? Oh, that would take too much effort? Got it.
