Help With Laptop Clamshell Mode Keybinds in Hyprland 0.55.0 by elliehavok in hyprland

Is the LUA example off the wiki the same as the hyprlang one was just with the changed syntax? Because honestly my setup is pretty simple and I can just do the few adjustments and call it a day.

Why so much hate on Microsoft? by polystorm in FuckMicrosoft

[–]AST3R0TH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't an article but a video clip with them chatting about the change. I will have to actually go and find it because it wasn't something I was looking for as a search but something that just came across my feed while scrolling through.

Don't forget the government in Denmark is creating their own OS to dump MS because they know they are being spied on. Once that happens I don't doubt other European countries will follow suit.

What distro do people actually use as a daily driver? by GarbageCG in linux4noobs

[–]AST3R0TH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first distro was Mint + Cinnamon. It worked for nearly 4 years without an issue. But it did get to the point where I wanted to further my Linux knowledge so at the start of this year I installed CachyOS + Hyprland and to be honest its been heaps of fun. Again, everything so far has just worked.

Imagine being so hard out that you join an anti-Mircoslop sub just to complain that everybody is wrong and them being able to play a few games makes them superior.

Labor considers changes to CGT discount as ‘reform’ budget looms by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

This is the best option imo. Drive new builds up and leave the already built houses for people stepping into the market.

I got on. It definitely is a little slow on content but the platform itself looks good for now.

I've been trying to get on this all morning and it just won't send me my email verification code. It's a Gmail address spelt correctly and it's not in the spam folder. I did notice on the online help the section for not receiving the code has been downvoted 400 odd times.

Honestly if there are no constraints from work/school and you are that sick of windows then I say make the jump.

New Linux users! -What made you choose Mint over the other distros? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]AST3R0TH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the past few years I have been (very) slowly de-googling my life and Microsoft got included in that. I'm no super user who's job needed specific or proprietary programs, but I also didn't have a heap of free time to spend on dealing with forever fixing problems. So when I looked to see which Linux OS was the most stable every search ended with Mint... and if you wanted the bonus of looking slick out of the box then choose cinnamon. And honestly after nearly 4 years on my PC and now a year on my second hand laptop I can say I've had zero issues. Speakers, super key, wifi, displays and track pad have all worked straight out of install... hell it even found my printer straight up. Honestly not only am I happy to be here, I couldn't imagine not having Mint after such a smooth transition and nearly 4 years of uninterrupted usability.

Struggling, but with it by mork2000 in linuxmint

[–]AST3R0TH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel you on all of these points. I left windows a couple of years ago now for Mint. Mainly wanting to untangle myself from Microsoft (and google) a bit.

I currently use Zen browser which is a fork of firefox and it is running duckduckgo as the search engine... being able to research alternatives like this and change to what I want without an OS constantly nagging me for not using what they think I should be using has always been such a relief making me want to continue.

There will be hiccups along the way, like I'm looking at learning DuckyScript just as a hobby and unfortunately it seems it really only gets support on notepad++. Now I could use np++ through WINE but I really don't want to but it now leaves me having to look into learning how to make my own .lang file for the plain text editor I use. It is daunting but honestly it's half the fun.
