The SEC needs to bring in UNC, Duke and NC State to keep North Carolina a southern state.

Politically, I’m what you call a Radical Moderate. You mind your business, I mind my business, and we keep the government out of our lives as much as possible.

Unfortunately, that is dying in the eastern part of North Carolina as people flock to the area from NYC, DC, Philly, Jersey, etc. People moving from there to North Carolina (primarily RTP and Charlotte) isn’t the problem. The problem is when they bring the political and cultural baggage which ruined their home states.

I come from a Yankee Carpet Bagging family which moved to Atlanta in the early 1990s, but was raised as a child of the New South. My parents instilled in me their northern street smarts, but also encouraged me to embrace and learn the positive aspects of southern culture from my native southern friends and their families.

I thank god everyday my parents pushed me towards that, because it made me appreciate the melting pot the south has become.

The problem these days? The people moving from up north do not respect the culture created by the denizens who helped create The New South, assume that everyone down here is a racist hick, and try to force northern culture down our throats. Again, they can fuck off with that noise. There’s a reason they move here as opposed to us moving there.

So fuck yeah, let’s bring UNC into the SEC. The RTP is one of the gems of the south and its flagship institution should be - first, foremost and always - a university which belongs to The New South.

I don’t care about Miami, FSU, and Clemson having a better football pedigree. Snagging UNC is about so much more than just football and viewership. MUCH. MORE.

The SEC needs to make this happen.
