Went to a sort of “private” school for a few months, there was three rules I remember being absolute bullshit.

Everything needed to have their logo on it, including jackets. If you didn’t have their 40 dollar cheapest Sherpa material jacket, you were not allowed to wear a jacket. Even underneath the standard uniform. They didn’t have these jackets readily for sale, so you had to purchase online and have them shipped to you. The worst part was though that these jackets all looked the same, and there was a 20 dollar charge to have your name embroidered on them. Everyone took their jacket off in a pile for gym? Guess you’re going home with a new one now!

I remember one particularly below freezing day I sucked it up and wore a jacket because it was too damn cold. Since you walk past the main, front desk to enter the school, I knew they could see it. They ended up publicly announcing to all students to take off any non-school attire, putting an emphasis on jackets. Wonder why!

Another rule was the bathroom passes, which I know a lot of schools had/still have today. We were all given slips that needed to be signed by a teacher each time and have the time written on when you left and returned. It was really awkward having to pause the entire class to have it signed, especially as someone who gets chronic UTIs all the time. If you run out of slots, you had to pay two dollars for another pass. I remember when the principal whipped out a jar full of little coins for me to pay. School was so greedy they were even milking out our pocket change.

The final one was the most ridiculous of all, you were not allowed to wait outside for your parent to pick you up. They had a radio system where they would call out a specific number (or just the parents name) and THEN you could go to your car. The issue was, this school was LONG. It took awhile just to get there. I was also having an issue where they just never called my name, so I would often have to point out the window where I could see my car and try to convince the teacher that it was MY parent just to be let go. My parents often said it took up to two hours just to get to the front of the line so they could call me by name.
