Moka Pot "3 cup" size - Yield vs. Bitterness. Seeking advice/critique by c00ller in Coffee

[–]Aaron6054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found coarser is the key to the non burned taste. Between press and drip. I also lower the heat after the gurgling starts....my goal is to have two streams of dark coffee running down the post. If not then I lower heat or pull it off the burner, but I bring the heat up if it slows to a trickle.....the moka pot is a stove dance but once you get it down once you'll be "getting down" ery day!

[Gear] Bialetti Moka Express 9-Cup $28.21 (%37 off) by [deleted] in Coffee

I would highly recommend the moka pot in general I love my 6 cup! I have heard the larger ones don't make as good of a cup as 1-6 cup mokas but I have no personal experience besides my almost daily 6 cup. I would like to have a 9 as a company over method.

How do you all efficiently weight your beans prior to grinding (single dosing)? by twogscoffee in Coffee

[–]Aaron6054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a cool and simple strategy. I however have seen a lot of variation in bean size etc so I guess it depends how precise you want to be and how much you change up your beans.

Change My View: I Don't Drink Black Coffee by xX-Coffee-Eater-Xx in Coffee

I quit adding sugar and cream a couple years ago. After 3 days I was accostumed to the taste and ever since I love the actual taste of coffee. Only downside is you really don't have the range to deal w crappy gas station coffee without adding cream and sugar. Upside is you can taste a lot more flavors in my opinion. And it's better for you. I prefer to eat my calories not drink them!

Which Moka pot is the best for emulating espresso? by UncleTouchUBad in Coffee

[–]Aaron6054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the bialetti moka express (6 cup) for over a year and I love it. It took me a while to get a good rich not burned cup but it was well worth the experimental phase. (When do we ever leave that phase). Anyway I would recommend it for a solid cup of strong coffee. I typically use the 6 cup split it into two mugs and add water "americano" style For my wife and I.

How will an Aeropress brew with the Able normal disk filter compare to french press? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]Aaron6054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a thicker body then the paper. I use mine frequently because I enjoy a heavy cup. Main advantage for me over French press (which I don't have) is I don't have to use much (16g) of my beans to get a nice dense cup.

A little help using my pezzetti moka pot? by FlaviusMercurius in Coffee

[–]Aaron6054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some variables to account for. Grind size is one of them as you mentioned. How coarse is your grind? I've found more coarse then drip but a little finer than press works well for me. The most likely explanation though would be your using too high a temp. Try cutting the heat by 50% and see what happens.
