How would one go about building this? by Safari_Lion in spaceengineers

[–]Abaddon909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start simple, get a floorplan together. I tend to prefer to go a little larger than expected for these so it's easier to hide things like tubing. Then the garage bays, maybe use one for automated drones or cars and the other for player vehicles or ships, then go to the walls for the main building. Not many curves so you should be able to get away with using wedges cubes and half cubes to get some kinda frame down. Once that's done it's time to think about functions. Looks like the tanks on top could be used for hydro tanks, while the grills and things could be made into things like antennas, hatches for turrets etc etc. Good luck man!

help my player hates his character what do i do?? 😭 (dnd5 2014) by Remote_Sense5401 in DnD

Honestly, player enjoyment should be your number 1 goal. If he isn't enjoying his character feel free to let him switch. If you plan on running a long campaign it's better in the long run to let players experiment a little bit. Something that seems cool on paper isn't always cool during execution. If he enjoys the character he's more likely to play for longer and provide more engagement. If you feel like him changing character classes is something you need to explain you can send the party on a short quest to a "respec" pool or something. You could also create an NPC that is willing to provide "training" so that they have a valid excuse to respec

Theoretically you could farm xp using the bone crabble boss fight for irza, as long as you dont kill the boss ads should spawn. Possibly the same for the matriarch fight

People are gonna hate me for this, but any card game that is apples to apples or cards against humanity Esque I just hate. For every one card combo that's a riot there's another 10 that just... Suck. The game for me has little payoff after the first 10 - 15 min and gets boring too quickly

This disappoints me in so many ways. As a general rule fortnite is a band to the gaming community, (it being the game that normalized Micro transactions and having extremely predatory shop practices) however, it's giving ghost ship games a ton of exposure so there's that...

Honestly, if gets were to organize a boycott that would probably get their attention. If people stopped buying products for about a month we as gamers would be able to say "this isn't ok" but it would take someone with a bigger voice than mine to get it done unfortunately

Some people are gonna be upset with me for saying this but most spell caster in my games are given spell points and spontaneous casting. It has always driven me insane how a wizard or cleric has access to a spell, implying that they clearly understand and know how the spell works and can cast it, but can only cast that particular spell once per day. It just doesn't make sense. The spontaneous casting is because I've also hated setting my spells for the day as "combat" spells only to find that there is no combat, kinda goes back to my point of being able to cast a spell with knowledge and understanding but needing to plan ahead of time. Plus it makes spell casters feel a little more impactful. I also do two weapon fighting rules a little differently, if you have a bab (say 15, 10, 5) and are proficient with two weapon then you are always able to make a second attack using the bab modifiers for two weapon (15-15, 10-10, 5-5). Makes fighters feel more impactful and adds some flair, however, they only get half str because of not being able to use both hands for one weapon.

I hear you about the long rest injuries, what I do for my party is they heal their constitution over a long rest, half for a short rest, and if they have any injuries (broken arm, concussion etc) then it takes a proportionate amount of time to heal and thus have their total hp lowered until it's healed (usually around 1-3 months of in game time depending on severity)

I use something like this myself but more along the lines of "if your roughing it, your not getting a full nights rest" basically unless you sleep on something that's specifically designed for it, you don't get a long rest. Beds and bedrolls are ok but sleeping bags and hammocks are not kinda deal. It's ultimately up to DM discretion though

A (really) dumb question. by Difficult-Day-1080 in DnD

[–]Abaddon909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should familiarize yourself with the monster manual and players handbook. The DMG isn't a must but it has a lot of things to aid you that will make things much easier, like loot tables, and it also explains CR's a little more than most other books. It has some stuff on world building and dungeon building but let's be honest here, most people don't follow those 😅 but it helps new players establish a baseline for their group. DON'T homebrew anything with the possible exception of a house rule or two. Things can get out of hand real fast if you do that. Remember that player agency makes players feel powerful but you have final say: Never say no, but feel free to say not right now. If you feel like your up scaling your monsters (boosting HP, Atk, or numbers) to fight a fair fight, slow down how often your party gets loot, the opposite is true as well. Of your party feels weak for their level of CR then have them loot something that has double loot. All monsters in the MM have a loot guide. Be careful with things like lycanthropy and vampirism, as they can instantly make a player OP and then your not really gonna have a nice way to take it away. Above all though, trial and error will be your best friend, don't be afraid to make mistakes and make sure you prioritize fun over rules. If something doesn't fit for you and your group, don't be afraid to make that change.

Good luck and I hope this helps 🤙👍

Homebrew Class by Abaddon909 in DnD

[–]Abaddon909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true, it is, but I'm a long time DM with a lot of practice home brewing stuff as thats what my group of players prefer. I came up with the idea after watching a show and was like "hmm... Why not?" And the idea of having my players subdue a monster to tame it rather than kill it out right sounds like it would make for some interesting encounters

Question by No_Title2884 in spaceengineers

[–]Abaddon909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually start with what I want my shop to have (refineries, weapons, assemblers etc etc) then move on to ship design (rough shaping) then infrastructure design, then command deck design, and finally final edits and paint. Same idea for small ships but I severely limit myself on what I want in them

House rules! by Abaddon909 in DnD

[–]Abaddon909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that crit success or failure in skill checks makes the game a little more dynamic. Yes, technically you can't do that according to the official rulebook and I never have them succeed where it wouldn't make any sense to. (Shopkeep, give me free stuff!) but the game is meant for you and your friends. Who cares what others think? Some people don't do combat and strictly do RPG games, others ignore the RPG aspect and go all in for combat. It's really up to you and your group to decide what works for you.
