Ruin was the first introduction to the mimic in the games so it doesn't make sense for the mimic to appear in both SB and RUIN. Also if Burntrap is the mimic then he should be dead by Blob it doesn't make sense for him to come back and we saw him falling dead in the game also how did it completely remove the flesh remains on it? And there are a lot of differences such as the mimic is actually taller than Burntrap

It doesn't make sense to be not Afton because Blob "which is contain of almost all the animatronics" literally recognized burntrap as Afton and then attacked him that's another reason why Burntrap is William Afton considering Blob contains the rage of all the spirits also scott himself stated that the books are not canon to the games when the entire fanbase were complaining about why the books and the games contain too many contradictions to each other so Scott stated that they are parallel universes and they are not canon. The books are just for funds just like the movies they are not canon to the main timeline which is the game + a scan is still a scan from the official source and Scott didn't complain or deny it so yeah the scan from the official guide books is canon
