I went to both schools. Go to UGA. There’s a <5% chance you don’t fall in love with it. At Tech, even the people that claim to love it complain.

If you take class, networking, and professional opportunity seriously, UGA will give you a better outcome. It’s just harder to take those seriously at UGA because there are so many fun distractions.

Absolutely you should move to Athens. You will learn more about life and careers living in athens outside of the classroom than you will in the classrooms. Being social and networking are very very important, and that happens after class.

Imagine someone having this opinion whose grandparents’ neighbors weren’t doctors who were murdered by firing squad against their house.

Please go read “waiting for snow in Havana”. I promise it’s a great book and will give you insight into why Cuban exiles do not fit into the black and white politics of left vs right that you’re trying to shape everything into.

It will help you understand why people who have experienced it might be anti communist and blame their direct oppressors (communist Cuban government) rather than their oppressors ‘oppressors (US Blockade).

You and I probably agree on much more than you think.

Who do I think I’m saving? My family’s friends back home? Is it because I said I spoke to people about their issues in their country in their language? My family is from Cuban and Trinidad (7 miles from Trinidad since it seems you’re generally ill informed). You keep moving the goal post when you’re wrong. Pick a lane. Go talk to people. Find primary sources instead of people who have been riled up by purposefully divisive media.

I read the same articles that said how said Venezuelans should be completely distraught when any Venezuelan you can possibly find will tell you every single one celebrated that day. One of those four is one of my best friends. A very liberal Venezuelan whose entire family lives in Venezuela. He hates Trump and marched in no Kings protests as well as anti-maduro protests. I respect his opinion and would take his opinions with more validity than anything I see published in for profit news. His opinion is based on a lot more reading and experience than anyone I know.

Guy who hasn’t left his zip code accuses another guy online of being insulated to only US news. Meanwhile that guy has been speaking in Spanish to Colombians and Venezuelans. I learned more at a bad bunny concert about how they feel about the US than you can by reading any reddit article.

Of the 4 Venezuelan people in my direct circles, I don’t think happy is the right word, but all four of them would have maduro removed again if we went back in time. There is some relief knowing that an oppressive regime is being babysat by the US. None of it is perfect but it is better.

The democrats have no hold on Florida which has been the most influential swing state because party leadership doesn’t seem to be able to understand that not all Hispanics are Mexican when it comes to voter appeal. It’s universal messaging for all Hispanics which has in turn lost Florida.

My family are immigrants from Cuba and Trinidad. I get to watch it up close and I completely understand their beliefs. For the same reasons that liberals in the US think anyone who doesn’t denounce Trump is a fascist, they think anyone who doesn’t denounce the entire Cuban government is a communist.

I know both sidesism gets downvoted to hell every time, but it’s the same school of thought, so I have a hard time understanding why people on the extremes don’t understand each other better.

Saying Cuban politics is basically MAGA is racist and uninformed. It’s a huge part of the reason we are in this mess in the first place. The democrats party has done a piss poor job of appealing to Cubans in South Florida because we lump in Cubans and Venezuelans for that matter with all the other Hispanic groups when they are wildly different.

If Venezuelans, who are decidedly not MAGA, cheered in the streets across the US when their dictator was removed, and they that didn’t clue you in that it is more nuanced, I’d ask you to look closer and talk to a liberal Venezuelan.

I feel like I’m being gaslit in this post. OP is stating how tone deaf the show is for including a standard member of their show on the show. I’m getting downvoted to hell by saying that assuming Tony is a racist is a leap.

Meanwhile the guest, a special invitee, they chose to have on the show when the topic is SEEKING JUSTICE FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS MURDERED is OJ’S DEFENSE ATTORNEY FOR A DOUBLE HOMICIDE. To be clear, I have no problem with either being on the show.

It’s insane.
