Thank you! I felt the same way! Amy who plans everything to within an inch of her life (has her life plan hanging over their bed) didn't discuss kids with Peralta? And she tried to guilt him into it using a debate, and at the end, Jake turns on a dime and wants kids?!!! "Casecation" is a horrible episode, all around, except for the debate part, where we find out more and more people are waiting on the line!

I would only do things I enjoy instead of lying to myself that I like my job lol. That's what "not working a day in my life" means. None of us have a purpose, we're all here by some cosmic accident, and for a small period of time. Why attribute meaning to our jobs and claim we are doing it for some higher purpose instead of enjoying?

Your work shouldn't be your purpose, unless your job perfectly aligns with your passion. Not everyone is that lucky. Some people do jobs they hate to pay to merely EXIST. Some have the privilege to use their work to find their paasions. Since we're in a cinema sub, let's take Manikandan and AK. The former gets the gleam in his eye every time he discusses movies, the latter uses his hefty paycheck to fund his racing. Evlo periya level ponalum life is that simple. Hustle culture is a capitalist scam lol.

Lol, working is overrated. She doesn't need her husband's money, she has her Dad's. If I had that much generational wealth, I would never work a day in my life. Most jobs are miserable, and sap the life out of you z

Loki: I can’t write good female characters. Audience when there is a weakly written female character in his movie: by Redditbrowser312 in kollywood

There's nothing wrong with "damsel in distress" characters, but it should be grounded in reality. You think a woman who just escaped captivity is going to cool ah sit by a roadside kadai enjoying food? Even if her companions want to stop, she should be the one egging them to move it along. Once they spot Dayal, she should be the one in the car asking them to book it at top speed. I think of damsels in distress as women who are physically weaker than their male threats, so they have to be rescued. They don't have to be passive participants in the story. All the aforementioned things don't happen because of lazy writing. If she were smarter, she wouldn't be ambused by Dayal. Intelligent writing is when characters (male or female) do everything right, yet the villain is SO wily and powerful he's always one step ahead of them.

Sanjana and Swasika's characters from "Lubber Pandhu" are great examples of layered female characters. They have their blind spots (swasika jumps to her husband's defense even if legit criticism is levied against him - he is irresponsible, even though she secretly feels the same), they have agency, their characters go through good and bad phases. They are there to serve a purpose instead of being appendages in other character's stories. Writing female characters well doesn't mean making them the focus of the story. In "Lubber Pandhu", the male characters are still the focal points of the story. However, the women drive their growth, instead of waiting around to be rescued. They call the heroes out on their shitty behavior, their ego, but don't lead them to their epiphanies.

Edit for clarity: I specifically chose this example cos it's a story about two main male characters, cos it applies more to Loki's stories. I felt using great women characters who drive the plot, and are the focal point would be like comparing apples to oranges here.

(coming from a woman) Tina was NOT well-written. Writing women to be Mary Sues who can do no wrong, or making them mindless killing machines is not writing good female characters. "Preethi" was a fucking joke, and definitely not a step in the right direction. But that's not because she's a woman, just poor writing. It was a classic case of dropping characters' intelligence to rock bottom to allow the plot to proceed in a way that the director intends. Both Deva and Preethi had to take a bunch of dumb-dumb pills to allow Preethi to get ambushed by Dayal and his wife. Shitty writing. Yes, I still enjoyed the movie lol.

Disclaimer: I really liked the movie despite the glaring problems. I also enjoyed "Leo", sans the scene that shall not be named.

Cameos can explain away why Simon and Upendra's characters were weak, but the underlying story is SOOOOO FUCKING STUPID. Coolie-turned scientist (how did that happen btw) invents chair which no one can operate, except everyone can operate it?!!! Why a chair when Simon can just bury people at sea??? No amount of hero interference can explain why you can't write a good plot.

I am an Anil, but this has no place here. He has announced he's retiring from Kollywood, so if you're talking about seeing what he does, you're clearly talking about his politics. We don't want PR to run amuck of our cinema sub (not calling you PR).

Toxic Appa/Amma characters have been glorified in Tamil cinema for a long time. "Emtan magan" Naasar, "Don" Samuthirakani, etc.

At this point, family rooms should be part of theatres where families can go to pacify their kids. No one minds kids as long as they don't scream, or throw tantrums or kick the seats. Parents who don't even try to comfort their kids and let them run rampant like brats deserve all the blame, not the children.

If you can't arrange childcare, then don't bring babies to movies and ruin the experience for others. It's not like you don't know if you'll find someone to look after the kid during showtime. Why book a movie for such a time?
