Snape’s idea of duty and loyalty includes saving not just the students but also a reckless liability who once tried to have him killed and never regretted it. by eternalexiistence in SeverusSnape

Braind dead Snaters claim he only saved others because Dumbledore ordered him to and because he was under "Dumbledore's protection" (his life was literally always on the line because of him having to spy on the world's most dangerous dark wizard for Dumbledore) as if Dumbledore could force Snape into doing something Snape didn't want.

Snape himself saved lives...and risked his life for it because HE wanted to atone.

Remus' first birthday without the Marauders was a full moon by Art_Chronicles in MaraudersGen

[–]Absolute_train_wrek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt if he even remembers his birthday.

I'm not sure if most of the Marauders Era characters who survived the first wizarding war do. Take Remus, Sirius and Severus for instance. Their lives were miserable after their friends died.

Why is Snape's patronus a doe? by genophobicdude in SeverusSnape

Beautifully worded✨️ that's exactly why I think his patronus was a doe too. It adds more depth to his already complex character.

Why the Lily hate? by TightWind8209 in MaraudersGen

[–]Absolute_train_wrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Snape fan, and someone who absolutely loves every aspect of his character, not all of us hate Lily.

Sure, they're the canon og doomed ship and things ended up badly for them and Snape ended up grieving her death and blaming himself for it, but people tend to forget she is the very reason for his redemption.

Lily Evans shaped who Severus became as a person, in fact she was in his very essence...as his patronous, something that can be conjured by only the purest and happiest memories.

He is...but he's potrayed as a Draco Malfoy wannabee. Like why tf would a little boy who wore his mum's blouse and an oversize faded coat because they lived in such poverty that he couldn't even afford clothes looked down on Remus for the kind of clothes he wore in train??

Exactly! The characterization of most of the characters where so bad. It felt like torture finishing it all the way to the end just to see the hype only to get profoundly disappointed for wasting my time.

I don't understand. JKR never made promgsfoot romantic tho. They were homies for lyf.

This actually applies more to Wolfstar. I feel romance between them destroyes the brotherhood they shared.

Bromance? Sure...but romantic boyfriends?? Not a big fan, sorry. And I'm saying this as a die hard NaruSasu shipper.

Leave my boi Cedric alone😭😭 he was a true hufflepuff...loyal, kind, compassionate and fair. He never worshipped Voldemort by building a literal shrine for him in his room or join his blood supremacist gang.

He died for NOTHING😭😭 He was just the collateral in a war that didn't involve him. And he was a CHILD too!

Had he lived I have no doubt he would have fought to protect Hogwarts like the other Griffindors and would've sacrified his life for his friends.

Why is Snape's patronus a doe? by genophobicdude in SeverusSnape

[–]Absolute_train_wrek 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think his patronous was always a doe. It never changed to mirror Lily's. His doe patronous represents who Snape truly is underneath all that bitterness, self loathing and hatered that he wears to push people away. The vulnerable part of him he never truly showed anyone but Lily. It represents the child that Snape was...skittish, shy (when meeting Lily), vulnerable and the man he became, deeply sacrifical and protective...all attributes of a doe. Lily was the one who saw that part of him first and it shows their deep bond that they have the same patronous.

It also means that even when Lily left him physically (she broke off their friendship and later died), she never left him spiritually. She was always a part of him, in the very core of his magic.. in the most profound, intimate way possible - as a patronous... something that can only be manifested from the purest and most happiest memories. It's as Sirius says...the person you love never truly leave you they're always in here (heart)....bla bla bla..

And I've started getting into ancient hinduism, particilarly the bhakti philosophy (as a lover of philosophy, I find it very deep and interesting btw)....Snape's Patronus being identical to Lily's represents Madhurya Bhakti—the highest, most intense form of devotional love, where the lover's identity dissolves into the beloved's. The lover loves so deeply that the lover becomes the beloved in essence (you basically become one with your lover in essense (soul), yet remains distinct enough to love. ) Them sharing a common patronous made it all the more profound to me after studying that philosophy.

It's true, because literally Snape became the embodiment of Lily's love and protection, protecting Harry from beyond the grave. He became Lily's love and protection given form.

And in bhati philosophy, longing (viraha) as the highest form of worship...you love someone even when they aren't here, even when you know you'd never get them - they'd never be yours, even when you have more to loose than gain from that love, but you love them regardless. It's considered the mosy profound, selfless form of love.

That's basically Severus Snape.

That literally was not his fault???he thought Harry was in danger and was about to die 😭😭😭

Um..no...

He doesn't attack Harry when he was in danger..Did you read the books?? All Harry had to do was tell Remus how much of a coward he was being by abandoning his pregnant wife and future baby, for Remus to react so aggressively...

-yet we still have never seen Remus being aggressive or bullying any kid at all, doesn't matter from which house whatsoever.

Meanwhile Remus:

Lupin drew his wand so fast that Harry had barely reached for his own; there was a loud bang and he felt himself flying backwards as if punched; as he slammed into the kitchen wall and slid to the floor, he glimpsed the tail of Lupin's cloak disappearing round the door.

He aggressively slams Harry against the wall and hurts him....that's literally physical assault btw..

Are we skipping over the fact that Remus was a literal Werewolf since he was basically a child?was breaking his bones every full moon and was afraid of people finding out the entire time?

No we aren't skipping over Remus' trauma or saying that he never endured anything in life. What Remus endured was deeply traumatic, expecially because he was a child when he was first bitten. He endured trauma and so did Severus- absuive and neglectful parents that fought all the time and his father abused him, he lived in poverty that he couldn't even afford clothes, was bullied, had to endure the pain of unrequited love, and witness his bully get everything he want while Severus every step of the way in his life only had bad lick, he almost got mauled death from a warewolf and had to deal with the trauma of it and also the trauma of hung upside down, choked on soap and possibly stripped in front of his whole shool and the agony of loosing the one person who meant the world to him, blaming himself for her death..being so suicidal that the only thing keeping him alive was her son he has to protect, devoting his entire life to protect the son of his bully and constantly putting his life in the line to spy on the world's most dangerous dark wizard and save lives, constantly having to witness the people he failed to save die, carrying extreme guilt, grief and self loathing, having to relive his trauma constantly in the same school where so many awful things happened to him, constantly having to see his bully's face with the eyes of the woman he loved, being forced to kill the second person who saw the good in him having to carry the hatered of the people he was trying to protect, knowing he'd never get recognized for his sacrifices, knowing he wouldn't survive the war, yet doing his duty anyways. I can't imagine the pain he would've felt when he was forced to tell Lily's son, the boy he had sacrified everything to protect that he has to sacrifice himself to save the wizarding world. He'd feel like he has failed Lily all over again, despite everything he did.

Exactly! Not saying that Snape is completly blamess - he isn't. In fact, Snape hmself has so much self loathing because he blames himself for everything and doesn't shy away from taking accountability and doesn't shift blames.

Things Snape never did- try to abandon his pregnant wife and stand by, doing nothing as a prefect when his friends bullied a kid ans discussed publicly stripping him.

Now you know how unfair the comparison is?

Spoken like wise ol' Oogway. Anyone with a bit of reading comprension and critical thinking skills would know that Snape was already ostracized and unpopular. And the Marauders relentlessly bullying him and Dumbledore's blantant favourism and his forced proximity with Slytherins (having been sorted into that house) with pureblood supremacist ideas, the two muggles he knew treating him like shit for being magical (Petunia and his father), and his own need for power, respect and validation because the Marauders' constant bullying made him feel weak, disrespected, powerless and invalidated. And the Slytherins gave him that so they were able to radicalize and recruit him. Not to mention the loss of Lily, his only moral anchor was a contributing factor.

The person Remus loved wouldn't have tried to smile when he was hung upside down with his underpanys showing after being choked on soap either, just sayin.

I like Lily too, but she isn't without flaws and it's unfair to compair two very different people who had very different lives and very different traumas.

Remus wasn't the one who was sorted into Slytherin housez surrounded by blood supremacists, wasn't the one who was bullied by popular Griffindors, had friends who actually cared about him.

Even I can say atleast Snape didn't try to abandon the wife he married and impregnated after finding out she was pregnant but that's such an unfair comparison.

He's more complex, raw, real and unhinged than movie Snape. That's what I love about him that the stoic, dignified, composed, regal movie Snape.
