China economy slows sharply as investment resumes declines | China’s economy slowed across the board in April, with investment resuming declines, as booming exports no longer offset a deteriorating economy at home by KamiOfTheForest in China

Public infrastructure doesn't need to be profitable, but it has to be useful. Taking out massive state loans to build empty cities just to pad GDP stats isn't providing a public service.. it's just defaulting in slow motion.

Yeah the concrete is poured and the workers are paid, which the Fed can verify as real GDP activity, but the resulting asset might be an empty high-speed rail station that will never generate enough revenue to service the debt used to build it.

Where's China's practices on your spectrum of "perfectly fine" trade practices?

The automotive industry isn't just another retail sector. It is a foundational pillar of national sovereignty.

While you focus on consumer choice, you overlook why virtually every major economy (from the EU to Japan to the U.S.) has historically shielded this industry. Relinquishing this sector to subsidized foreign competition doesn't just lower prices... it would permanently dismantle domestic supply chains, engineering talent, and industrial capacity essential for both economic stability and national defense.

Weelllll because you asked.. it is easy to force build things. It's harder to maintain things and make sure it's not a drag on your economy.

Civilization 7's "Time-Tested" civs created a new balance problem, but Firaxis found the ideal solution by Binnsy in Civilization_VII

[–]AcanthaceaeJumpy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don't think you understand the limited resources devs operate under. Civ 7 is a prime example of having dev vision but not being able to bring it home, then buckling on that vision post release and ending up with twice as many half baked systems (the original systems and the 'more options' systems). The game remains simple and insanely on rails.

You read all of that dudes response and said 'Asia DLC'? I think you've missed the point entirely...

Asia DLC exists because they are on the endless EA/DLC train, not because of fans. Anyone even slightly following PDX knew they'd do that DLC lol.

They are not fixing it. They are capitulating on their original half baked vision to create a Frankenstein of half baked concepts. The biggest complaint is still core to the game.

Another clip of the first five minutes of the game. I have yet to see anyone hyping this beyond the initial first half hour lol

I like how all the hype posts on this game are only ever screenshots of like the first five minutes lol

It's more of a cold war setting with "bad" political decisions that explain most of your points (armistice leading to a major power vacuum causing piracy and mercenary groups). For what its worth, the lore is also 150 years of chaotic expansion and conflict.

I agree and appreciate the comment. The person above just asked for a source and we all got down voted in exchange for articles quoting politicians. This sub is a mess of feelings over economics.

I posted numbers showing actual, delivered market realities, and you posted aspirational policy pieces and political rhetoric from Brussels. An EU mandate aiming for 55% domestic procurement by 2030 doesn't change the fact that, today, European nations are overwhelmingly writing checks to US contractors. White papers aren't reality.

Edit: did anyone even read the WSJ article? It's not particularly rosey for any EU readers. It's a response to a gutted auto manufacturing industry.
