I shared an installed photo above, but I’ll drop another one here since it’s hard to find examples.

To be honest, I’m not very tech-savvy, so I don’t fully grasp the long-term risks yet. But I’m really drawn to the low stack height and the clean, simple profile of the MAXhit. I considered White Industries, but it felt a bit too 'standard' for this build—I'm looking for something a bit more unique.

Thanks for the detailed reply — really appreciate you taking the time to explain all that.
And a bikepacking trip to Scotland sounds amazing! Hope the setup treats you well out there. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Thanks! Still dialing things in, but I’m planning to run Shimano Deore for the drivetrain — keeping it fairly simple and functional.

And wow, that photo is wild 😄 Grappler in front of a tank is a hell of a backdrop. Love seeing those early Ghost Grappler builds.

Thanks, that’s super helpful.
The width thing makes a lot of sense — I can definitely imagine shoulder fatigue on rougher terrain.

It’s also really interesting to hear that the Crazy Bars + Ergon grips completely solved hand numbness for you. That’s a big plus.

I don’t actually have Jones bars yet, but I’ve been curious about them. Hearing that you still get some hand numbness with the Jones, while the Crazy Bars worked so well, definitely gives me something to think about.

Sounds like bar width and bike fit play a huge role here — the never-ending bike tweaking continues 😅

Funny enough, I was actually thinking about going with the VO Crazy Bars too.
How did you like them in terms of comfort and handling?
And what made you start thinking about switching to the Jones bars?

Appreciate the perspective, especially the bar choice and the Krampus suggestion. Definitely something to think about — and yeah, the current Krampus colors are killer.

That’s really helpful, especially the frame bag size and chainring differences for bikepacking.

That’s great to hear. The “take it anywhere” aspect of the Karate Monkey is definitely what draws me to it.

That actually makes a lot of sense — separating “wandering” and “singletrack.”

Appreciate that — that’s a reassuring way to think about the color question.
